Sergio Reguilon is still looking for a way out of Tottenham, but he could be forced to stay and fight for his place.

Sergio Reguilon was an important part of Tottenham’s first-team plans following his £32 million move from Real Madrid back in 2020. But, he has been surplus to requirements for a while now and has been out on loan for the past two seasons.

The Spanish full-back was keen on securing a move away from the club in the recently concluded transfer window but things haven’t gone according to plan so far.

While speaking on GIVEMESPORT, Jacobs said: “Reguilon will be looking at the Turkish market and hoping that something materialises. But if it doesn’t, then he’ll sit tight at Spurs with the belief that, like Djed Spence, there might be an unlikely way back into the first team.”

Reguilon is not a part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans and Spurs were expected to sanction his departure with his contract running out in less than 12 months. Lille were keen on signing him on a temporary basis. But, it didn’t go through as Spurs were pushing for the loan deal to have an obligation to buy or at least a suitable buy option.

The North London club’s demands were beyond Lille’s reach and the move fell through. While the transfer window in Europe’s top five leagues is over, it still remains open in Turkiye and Reguilon is hoping he can secure a move away before their 13th September deadline. But, if things don’t go according to plan he will have to sit on the sidelines hoping for a chance to revive his career at the North London club.
