Tottenham can surely do better than target an average striker on the verge of relegation | Opinion

Bournemouth faces getting relegated from the Premier League on the final day of the season if results don’t go their way, but they might not go down with all their players.

The Cherries have struggled for much of this season, but a number of their players have maintained their personal reputation.

One player who is expected to be in high demand if they get relegated is Callum Wilson, and he may be heading to Tottenham.

Sun Sports claims that Spurs are monitoring his situation and they will pounce to land him if and when the Cherries’ relegation is confirmed.

Jose Mourinho’s men have been looking to a backup to Harry Kane and Wilson has emerged as a candidate for that role.

Wilson has been at Bournemouth since 2014 and he has scored nine times for them in all competitions this season.

This is obviously a personal opinion but surely Tottenham can do better than Wilson.

I have watched Wilson on numerous occasions and he simply does not look top quality, he has only ever hit 20 goals in a single season via the league and that was for the Cherries back in 14/15 when they were a Championship side.

He is 28 and would offer zero resale value, he cannot be classed as prolific and the idea that he would fill in for Harry Kane, for any reason, hardly fills me with confidence.

Again, I have to say, surely Tottenham can do better.

I wasn’t trying to justify what I believe will happen and I hate to see it but nope, just look at the evidence going all the way back to last season. We had the chance to really build on a team that was flying and we bought a player who wasn’t fit to put on a pair of boots in Sessignon instead of going hell for leather to buy Dybala. That sent all the wrong signals to the players and the fans alike. Removing Poch for Mouriniho was in my eyes something to try and distract from that. Now it is going to be a few years of whatever manager we have at the time saying the same thing. There will be a bit of money for one or two players to add to the squad and that’s IT! Will it bring us CL? NOPE it wont. Am I happy about it? Nope I’m not, but that’s the way things are looking.

you must see what is clear to most Tottenham fans . Our chairman deliberately stalls the teams progress. Sell your best full back replace him with your second choice ? Sell your second choice and replace him with your third choice ?Just when the team needs that push forward in terms of quality signings he fails to deliver. It’s either a stop gap player at the end of his career or some hopeful unknown signing but always on the cheap, did we get the real Fernandes? Watch the new players for next season picked off from any of the relegated teams . How about our billionaire owner stepping up to the mark for once ? Top match day ticket prices ( the most expensive along with the goons) demand top players in my book . The stadium was built to allow us to compete financially with the sky 4 teams , let’s see the evidence !

We have a billionaire owner with plenty of money currently sailing the high seas somewhere around the globe , it’s about time he dipped into his pocket for once !

I would. Better would be better obviously though🌚 we need a younger player who thinks he’s better than Kane. Callum knows he ain’t better than kane

Is Wilson really that bad? 41 goals & 12 assists in 125 pl games compared to Rashford 44 goals & 21 assists in 142 pl games. Of course Rashford is younger and better, full stop, playing in a better set up but Wilson,in a better team would be a good back up for Kane and not a lot of money. He suffered a terrible injury and provided that’s not an issue why not.

Just disappointing if true.

I read this morning that Brighton are close to securing Lallana for 3 years on a free.Surely we could offer someone like that more money than them and he could do a job for a year or two.

The trouble is our chairman only has ambitions to increase ENIC’s revenue not take the club forward. This is almost certainly going to continue whilst he’s in place.

Well in that case we won’t get CL next year will we? Invest to improve and increase income in the future. The alternative is to stand still and go stale. We are looking at the result of doing that this season. The game is all about ambition.

The cost of the new stadium combined with nobody in the stands and no USA Football matches is causing quite a substantial loss, so I’m not sure there will be a great deal of money for new players
