The Guardian says Tottenham is interested in signing Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella, but they face competition from Liverpool.
The 23-year-old Italian has emerged as one of the most exciting players at Inter recently, and he has become an ever-present for Antonio Conte’s men.
He is developing a reputation as a fine assist provider in the Milan side, which has drawn admiration from other teams.
The report says Spurs are looking for another spark in their midfield, and they consider him to be one player that can help provide more goals for their attackers.
Liverpool, on the other hand, has seen their attackers struggle for goals in recent games and they want Barella to freshen things up for them a little.
The report, however, says that he will not come cheap as he is one of the key players at the Milan side.
He also has a contract with them until 2024, giving them the chance to charge a favourable fee for his transfer.
This month is an unlikely time for him to move as the Nerazzurri fights for the Scudetto title alongside Milan and Juventus.
If he continues his fine run of form, Spurs might keep their interest and take it further by contacting Inter for his transfer in the summer.
Looks to be a top player. Still young, aggressive style of play and a good passer. Would likely be massive upgrade over Winks. But Inter paid some 40-50 mill Euros couple of years ago and he is an Italian international. If Leavy is gonna spend big bucks to support Mou, maybe the 50-70 mill needed for this transfer could be better spent on a new central defender and a Lucas/Lamela upgrade.
