Tottenham lining up Premier League replacement for experienced star

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham has made plans to replace Hugo Lloris should the Frenchman ask to leave the club in the summer.

Lloris is attracting the attention of PSG, which is now being managed by Mauricio Pochettino.

The World Cup winner will enter the last year of his Spurs’ deal in the summer and a return to his homeland might interest him.

Mail Sport says PSG is keen to land him and Tottenham have already started on their plans to make sure he doesn’t leave them stranded.

The Lilywhites have identified Burnley’s Nick Pope as the ideal replacement for him.

Pope has been one of the most outstanding goalkeepers in the Premier League since joining the Clarets from Charlton Athletic in 2016.

He has even forced his way into the England national team and will likely play for a top Premier League side sooner.

The report says his current deal at Turf Moor will expire in 2023, but they have the option to extend it by another year.

His is currently valued at £30m, which is a good fee considering the valuable returns that he can produce.

Burnley hasn’t been at their best this season, but Pope has been one of their top players, contributing 9 clean sheets in 24 league games.

I’d be happy with Pope,Henderson or Johnstone, let Lloris go.As it’s PSG Levy might get his money back.

I don’t think we need to look at the lower leagues for CBs as suggested by Paul below. There are good experienced players available at Levy prices in the PL.

If we had a scouting system it wouldn’t be difficult to identify the ones we need and do some business.Mourinho just needs to tell Levy who they are.

Bingo. Ive said Pope, Soucek & Grealish. Lets get shot of Dier, Sanchez, Lamela, Winks etc. I hear we cant compete with City, Chelsea, United etc. We have finished above all of them. Also not competing with them does not mean we cant find better than the aforementioned.
Does it mean we cant beat Fulham at home or go for more goals at Palace, Wolves. Or hold a 3-0 lead with 10 minutes to go. Come on, its mistake after mistake by crap players. Lets build a team with decent , competent players in right positions. Doherty was good at Wolves, why not here. For flair we need big investment. But surely centre backs can be found in lower leagues , lets get decent scouts. Thats what yo do with ENIC in charge. With new investing owners we can achieve anything
