Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on the Benfica midfielder Orkun Kokcu.
The Turkish international midfielder could be allowed to leave for a fee of around €60-70 million, and he is keen on playing in the Premier League. Tottenham could certainly use more quality and depth in the middle of the park and Kokcu will add creativity and control to the side.
The player has a €150 million release clause at Benfica, but the Portuguese club are fully aware of the fact that no club would be willing to pay that kind of money for him. Therefore, they are ready to sell him for a more reasonable amount of money.
As per CaughtOffside, Spurs will face competition from clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool for the midfielder. They have the financial muscle to get the deal done, and it will be interesting to see if they are willing to spend €60-70 million on the Turkish international.
The 23-year-old is capable of operating as a central midfielder as well as an attacking midfielder. The opportunity to play in England could be quite attractive for him, and Tottenham certainly be a tempting opportunity. They have an ambitious project and a talented squad. They have shown great improvement since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou and they will look to fight for trophies and compete in the UEFA Champions League regularly.
Kokcu will look to fulfil his ambitions with a move to the North London club if the opportunity presents itself.
Meanwhile, Manchester United and Liverpool could use more control and composure in the middle of the park as well. Kokcu has played under Liverpool manager Arne Slot in the past and it will be interesting to see if he is tempted to join the Reds instead. As far as Manchester United are concerned, they need more technical ability in the midfield and they have the resources to sign the 23-year-old midfielder as well.
