Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign the Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old has 12 goals across all competitions to season and he has helped his side win the league title this year.
His performances have attracted the attention of a number of Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, Brighton and Aston Villa.
According to a report from 1908.nl, Tottenham have ‘had talks with player and his management in recent days’ and it remains to be seen whether they formalise the interest in the player with an official bid.
The midfielder is valued at €40 million (£34.7m) and he could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for Tottenham.
The North London giants need to add more creativity and goals to their midfield and Kokcu would be a superb acquisition. He will add some much-needed creativity and technical ability in the middle of the park.
The 22-year-old can play as a central midfielder as well as an attacking midfielder. His signing will give Tottenham some much-needed tactical flexibility as well.
The Turkish midfielder has shown his quality in the Dutch league and he will be excited to take on a new challenge at this stage of his career. The opportunity to showcase his qualities in the Premier League will be a tempting proposition for him.
The reported asking price seems reasonable for a player of his ability and the 22-year-old certainly has the potential to develop further and justify the outlay in the long run.
