Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite at the end of the season.

The 22-year-old has established himself as one of the finest defenders in English football and he has been linked with multiple top clubs. According to Give Me Sport, he’s likely to cost around £70 million in the summer.

Tottenham are considering a summer move for him, but Everton could offer him a lucrative contract in order to keep him at the club. The report states that Everton are prepared to offer him a triple-your-money deal. It would see Branthwaite earn around £150,000 a week at the Merseyside club.

It will be interesting to see if the English defender is willing to commit his long-term future to the club and continue at Everton. He is undoubtedly the best defender at the club and keeping him would be a huge boost for the Toffees.

Meanwhile, Tottenham could use a quality central defender as well. Players like Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have struggled with injury problems this season and signing another reliable defender would be a wise decision. Branthwaite has all the attributes to develop into a world-class defender. He’s already one of the best defenders in the league.

Even though he is likely to cost a premium, he could justify the investment in the long-term. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can get the deal done. They have the resources to offer him a lucrative contract as well.

It will be interesting to see if the player is keen on a move to the North London club. He might want to join a club capable of winning major trophies. While there is no doubt that Tottenham have an ambitious project and talented squad, they are not quite at the level required to win league titles and Champions League trophies.
