Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

According to a report from Give Me Sport, the 22-year-old central defender is wanted by Chelsea and Tottenham. He is thought to be on the radar of Manchester United as well. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.

The player is reportedly valued at £70 million and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for most clubs.

Spurs need to improve the defensive unit and the 22-year-old would be a long-term acquisition for them. He has already established himself as a reliable performer in the Premier League and he could be an exceptional acquisition for the north London club. However, the asking price could be a bit of a problem for Tottenham. They will need to improve the other areas of their spending £70 million on the central defender might be problematic for them.

With Chelsea and Manchester United looking to sign the player as well, and there could be an auction for his services in the summer. Everton will look to drive the price up for the defender if they are forced to sell him. Also, the defender will want to join a club competing at the highest level.

Tottenham have a talented squad and an ambitious project, but they are not quite at the level to compete for major trophies. On the other hand, Chelsea have shown great improvement this season and they could secure Champions League qualification for the next season.

Manchester United have been quite underwhelming this season, but they have formidable resources and a talented squad. They could easily bring in a number of marquee signings in the summer and push for trophies next season. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can convince the defender to join them in the summer. It would be a major coup for them if they manage to get the deal across the line.
