Scalvini could be the ideal long-term replacement for the South American. He has shown his ability at Atalanta, and he has the physicality and technical attributes to thrive in England. He could develop into a key player for Tottenham. The departure of Romero will certainly give them the funds to sign the Italian defender. It remains to be seen whether an follow up on their interest with an official proposal.

Meanwhile, sources have revealed to CaughtOffside that: “Scalvini has become one of the most sought-after young talents in the game … he is seen as one of the new stars of this generation of Italian football.”

Can Spurs groom him into a star?

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can nurture him into a future star. The opportunity to join the Premier League club will be exciting for the young defender. He would get to test himself at a high level, and regular football in the Premier League could accelerate his development.

Tottenham have secured Champions League qualification for the next season, and they are likely to be an attractive destination for the young defender. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.
