Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bring in defensive reinforcements this month and they have identified Georgio Scalvini as a potential target.
According to Sky Sports, Tottenham ‘admire’ the 20-year-old Atalanta defender and it remains to be seen whether they decide to make a move for him this month.
Scalvini has a contract with the Italian club until the summer of 2028 and he is valued at €40 million by transfermarkt.
The Italian outfit will not want to lose him anytime soon and Tottenham will probably have to pay a premium in order to convince them.
The 20-year-old defender is highly rated around Europe and he has a bright future ahead of him. He could develop into a long-term asset for the north London club if they can secure his services.
Apart from his defensive qualities, the towering Italian international will add aerial presence to the side. In addition to that, he is excellent with the ball at his feet and he will add a new dimension to the Tottenham side with his distribution skills. Scalvini is also versatile enough to operate as a central defensive midfielder.
There is no doubt that he could develop into a top-class player with the right coaching and guidance.
The report from Sky Sports claims that Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is looking to bring in talented young players and Scalvini certainly fits the profile. He could save them millions in the transfer market if he manages to fulfil his tremendous potential in the coming seasons.
