Tottenham in pole position to sign Real Madrid star and at a bargain price

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham is interested in signing talented Real Madrid midfielder, Lucas Vazquez, according to Defensa Central.

The Spaniard has been one of Zinedine Zidane’s favourites since his first stint as Los Blancos manager.

However, he has struggled with injury and form this season and he has seen his opportunities limited by the emergence of Rodrygo.

He has a contract with Real Madrid until 2021, but he might leave the Bernabeu this summer because of a lack of opportunities.

Zidane has favoured Rodrygo on the right side of his attack, but the return of Marco Asensio gives him yet another option in that position, pushing Vazquez further down the pecking order.

The report claims that Tottenham is in pole position to sign him if he does leave Madrid with the Lilywhites prepared to offer 16million euros for his signature.

Jose Mourinho would be looking to bolster his team ahead of his first full season as Spurs’ manager.

The “Special One” is targeting the Europa League next season and the vast experience of Vasquez will be valuable in that pursuit.

Vazquez has won three Champions League titles, so he will add good and important experience to the Spurs’ team.

If he does join, Spurs’ fans will be hoping that he adapts to the Premier League quickly and in good form.

Finally, if the price of 16 million euros is confirmed, Vazquez would be considered a bargain purchase and right now, that is what Spurs need to be identifying.

Out of interest I think Ceballos was ready to come but Dick Levy’d about as usual so he went to the Woolwich Nomads instead.

More wingers is just what we need.. If they can also play full back, centre mid and up top then I’m all for them.

There is ill feeling. Levy was supposed to have some kind of transfer partnership deal with them after we sold them those two.. Then the gooners were offered players on loan or to buy instead of us.. Most notably at the time was Ozil.

Who was the last Real Madrid player we signed? We’re continually linked with their players and nothing comes of it. I assume there must be a bit of ill feeling. We have sold them Modric and Bale and have we ever had even a player on loan from them?
