Tottenham hold talks with Barcelona contract rebel but face stiff competition

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham has held talks with the camp of Barcelona contract rebel, Ilaix Moriba, but they are cautious about their chances of signing him.

The 18-year-old broke into the first team of the Spanish club last season and was in good form in the matches he played for them.

His performances attracted the attention of several top European clubs and he has one more season left on his current Barcelona deal.

The Spanish club is struggling to get him to sign a new one and talks are at a standstill at the moment.

This has opened the door for him to move to a new club before this transfer window closes.

Tottenham is hoping to take advantage of the present situation to sign him and they could get their wish if they present a suitable offer.

The Daily Mail says they have held talks with his camp, but they are cautious about their chances of winning the race for him.

This is because they know he has interest from Europe’s top clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester City.

Signing him in this transfer window for a fee would be the smartest thing that Tottenham can do because he would have even more suitors if he runs down his current deal next summer.
