Inter Milan club chief admits that Lautaro Martinez received lucrative offers after links to Tottenham

By Eddie Razo -

Inter Milan has seen vital members depart from their 2020-21 Serie A title squad this summer; manager Antonio Conte to striker Romelu Lukaku have all left due to the Italian club’s financial issues.

One name that could’ve joined the list of departures is forward Lautaro Martinez. The Daily Mail relayed the comments made by Inter Milan chief executive Giuseppe Marotta, who stated that the Argentine striker had various lucrative offers.

“Lautaro is a player who explicitly asked to stay at Inter, despite receiving other lucrative offers,” Marotta said. “We are proud of that, he wants to prove himself a champion here, and we are very happy that he can continue his growth process at this club.”

Media outlets such as Goal linked Tottenham Hotspur to Martinez as they were ready to bounce and take advantage of the financial situation that Inter Milan finds itself in at the moment.

The 24-year-old has two years left on his contract and is keen on remaining at Inter to defend their Serie A title and compete in the UEFA Champions League.

It will be interesting to see whether Tottenham revisits this file down the road, especially if they decide to sell their current striker Harry Kane.
