Tottenham gets transfer boost in their bid to beat Arsenal to Premier League star

By Bruce Grove -

Arsenal will struggle to sign Tariq Lamptey in a boost to Tottenham’s chance of landing the England Under21 star.

Lamptey has been one of the finest right-backs in the Premier League since he moved from Chelsea to Brighton last year.

The Seagulls know that they have a fine player on their hands and they have moved to tie him down to a new long-term contract.

That hasn’t stopped big clubs from becoming interested in his signature.

Tottenham is expected to sell Serge Aurier this summer and they will replace the Ivorian when he leaves.

The Lilywhites want Lamptey to become the right-back that replaces him even though they signed Matt Doherty for the same purpose last season.

Arsenal has been keen on him as well, but the Gunners also want to sign Ben White from the same club.

The Daily Mail says they would struggle to pull off both deals and this could make it easier for Tottenham to land Lamptey.

The Lilywhites are still searching for their next manager but it seems they want to go ahead acquiring some of their transfer targets whom they are convinced any manager would appreciate having in the squad.
