“Tottenham feel they have signed…” – Romano makes interesting claim about Tottenham signing

By Mehdi Gokal -

Fabrizio Romano, a renowned transfer expert, has lauded Tottenham’s signing of Alejo Veliz and revealed that multiple European clubs attempted to convince his agent to reject the move to Spurs at the last minute.

Tottenham secured the services of Veliz from Rosario Central for a reported fee of £13 million.

During the Here We Go Podcast, Romano discussed the transfer of the Argentine ‘phenomenon‘.

He revealed that as Veliz was on his way to the airport to complete his move to Tottenham, several important European clubs contacted his agent to discourage him from signing. These clubs expressed a desire to wait until the very end of the transfer window to explore their options.

He said:

“He will need some time, Alejo Veliz, but Tottenham feel they have signed a very important player.”

“When this guy was going to the airport to sign for Tottenham, some clubs – important European clubs – started to call his agent and said ‘don’t sign, don’t travel because want to wait until the end, we want to try until the end’, so it was not only Tottenham on this guy who joined from Rosario Central.”

Of course the player proceeded to ignore all advice and sign for Tottenham only where he will play under a manager who has a reputation of improving and developing young players.

Veliz’s addition to Tottenham’s roster could have a substantial impact on the team’s attacking capabilities in the upcoming season.

With 11 goals under his belt across various competitions last season, he has all the potential to make an immediate mark in the Premier League if given an opportunity.
