Tottenham summer signing is a ‘phenomenon’, says World Cup winner

By Mehdi Gokal -

Daniel Bertoni, a World Cup winner, has expressed admiration for Tottenham’s acquisition of Alejo Veliz, hailing the young Argentine striker as a “phenomenon.”

Veliz is among the numerous players newly signed by Tottenham’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, in a busy summer transfer window.

Tottenham’s roster transformation has included notable names such as James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Manor Solomon, as well as the permanent signings of Dejan Kulusevski, and Pedro Porro.

The club has also secured the services of two highly promising young talents: center-back Ashley Phillips from Blackburn for an initial fee of £2 million and the Argentine prospect Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central for £13 million.

Bertoni praised Veliz while speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, extending his congratulations to Tottenham for securing the young talent.

The former Fiorentina player, who achieved World Cup success with Argentina, was full of praise for young striker.

He said:

“Congratulations to Tottenham, who took Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central. For me, [Veliz is] a phenomenon.”

TBH Says:

Veliz has the potential to significantly enhance Tottenham’s attacking prowess in the upcoming season.

With 11 goals under his belt across various competitions last season, he has all the potential to make an immediate mark in the Premier League.

With Harry Kane sold off to Bayern, Tottenham need more goals, and having a young talent like him could be helpful.

If he adapts quickly and performs well, this move could be a great decision. It’s like how Julian Alvarez has been important for Manchester City as a second option behind Erling Haaland, and Veliz might play a similar role for Tottenham.

That said, they still need an adequate replacement for Harry Kane, someone who can score 20 plus goals a season.
