Tottenham is set to suffer more financial losses due to the coronavirus outbreak as the NFL gets set to release their fixture list for the new season, reports the Star.
Spurs had a contract to host at least two NFL games this year in their new stadium. The deal is said to have been netting them around £4 million. However, the worldwide pandemic has thrown that agreement into uncertainty.
With the coronavirus still spreading across the globe, the UK government has placed bans on public gatherings which could affect places like stadiums for the rest of the year.
When the NFL fixtures come out, it is expected that they will not include games in the Tottenham Stadium because of the absence of fans.
If this happens, Spurs would lose the two games they are contracted to host and that will mean a significant financial hit.
Spurs were one of the first teams to furlough their non-playing staff as they looked to save some money while football remains suspended. Matchday revenue has completely dried up and this latest news will have an impact.
Although the furlough decision was overturned, the club will no doubt feel that they have to cut costs at some point if football continues to be put on hold.
It just gets worse for Tottenham and if the season does not resume soon and these financial hits continue then the club could soon find itself in a bit of bother.
