Tottenham could face a revolt from Kane over transfer

By Bruce Grove -

Some of Harry Kane’s England teammates do not expect him to return for preseason this summer in a bid to force through a move to Manchester City.

Kane told Tottenham that he wants to leave before Euro 2020 and he has interest from Manchester United and City.

Having led the line well for the Three Lions and helping them to reach the final of the competition, he will now face his club future directly.

The striker remains one of the best in Europe and at 27, this might be his best time to leave Spurs.

The club expects him to return for preseason under their new manager, Nuno Espirito after his extended holiday.

However, The Telegraph says some of his Three Lions teammates expect him to force through his move away from the club and it could mean he doesn’t return for preseason with the rest of the squad.

This is set to cause a rift between him and the club because the report says they told Nuno Santo that he would stay with them beyond this summer.

Spurs hope he can fire them to a top-four finish under the new boss and they could achieve their aim with plans to price him out of a move away from the club.

Totally agree. Whether or not he has been able to score in finals, he still makes up the bulk of goals and assists to get us there. If he goes, I wish him well but I hope he sees a future at Spurs.

For England, he did what he could in a very restrictive system, good at grinding out wins but little else. Kane is not a static player & needs to be on the move with the ball at his feet or coming in to him. The England setup couldn’t provide that but stupid people will continue to bag him because he wasn’t Roy of the Rovers.

Absolutely, it feels like some of the media have wanted him to leave for so long and just won’t leave it alone.

True, but you could also say he picked himself for that CL final when he and everyone else knew he wasn’t fit no matter who played behind him!

We’ve seen the way Levy operates and Kane conducts himself over many years, so I believe we have a fair image of both. Kane has loved Spurs and has stayed here for a long time. He’s become synonymous with us. Who knows what promises were made to him before he signed the 6-year contract (which was at the height of the Poch era)?

In my view, if Kane does decide not to return to training, it will be due to the fact there is no other way to persuade Levy to let him go. And I blame that on Levy, not on Kane becoming a bad egg suddenly after 8 years.

Harry does not appear to be like Rose and cause trouble, however this situation needs addressing asap with the media stirring up the pot.
It simply does not make sense to just wait for Kane to come back after his break to sort out where his future lies, it requires immediate attention due to the level of importance this has for him and the club.
It could well be of course that discussions have already taken place and the issue has been decided but with no press release that possibility seems rather odd.

Untik I hear Harry himself utter the words- “I want a transfer” or such I’m just going to ignore this rubbish.

If, & its 99% press BS, he decides not to return to training on the day he’s supposed to, he’s a bad apple. End of.

I suspect he wants to be given a fighting chance in the big games.

You could play with frequent England no-shows Sterling and Mount, or know that you’ve got Sissoko and Dier behind you, so you’re basically 1-0 down from the off – or you could play up front being fed by de Bruyne, Foden and whoever else is put up there by Pep.

They’ll find out how good Harry was when he’s gone.

Some people out here are doing Levy’s PR for him.

Kane a “bad apple”? Now I’ve heard it all.

We have never turned up in finals to my knowledge. Mourinho stifled us completely in the 2015 final (and Poch did by not starting Dembele) – we had beaten Chelsea 5-3 not long before that and probably expected them to roll over for us, but they didn’t. Our attacking players collectively had nothing.

The CL final was a disgrace where no one showed up. Much like the cup final last season. As for the Euro’s, name one player who turned up playing further forward than Rice and Phillips. Mount was absolutely awful, Sterling as well, and Kane was actually the guy who started the move leading to England’s only goal – by dropping deep, which was the only thing he could do to influence the game, as other attackers just didn’t bother doing anything and Southgate refused to start Grealish!

From then on, England barely had the ball, so I wonder what Kane could have done. He had close to zero support in the four finals he’s contested, so I think you’re being exceptionally harsh towards the best player we’ve had in quite some time. We finished 7th while having the best goal scorer and provider in one person – without this “not talisman”, we would be flirting with relegation.

Rubbish. This ‘bad apple’ scored 37 goals and had 18 assists for club and country last season.

I agree, every time I hear Kane say he wants to play ‘in the big games’ I think we’ll, you’ve done that already and not shown up for any of them. The only ‘big game’ left for him to play in is the world Cup final! In many ways I think other players will step up if he leaves, like they have done when he’s been injured, so it won’t be the end of the world if he leaves. It will be the end of the world tho when Levy wastes another windfall on more Bergwyns! 😊

Fair comment Keith, he does have a habit of going missing in semi’s and finals. Having said that I think on balance he has proven himself to be one of the best strikers/assisters in the world and we need him more than he needs us.
The board have basically screwed him over with false promises so I couldn’t blame him for going on strike, he’s been provoked into doing it by the shadiest chairman in the football league, probably anywhere in the world – N17’s answer to Arthur Daley.
Levy just can’t help himself from making promises he has no intention of keeping. Kane has been supremely loyal and likely only signed a 6 contract based on Levy’s false promises and Pochettino being supported properly, so he was basically lied to. Had he been given the true facts he would not have done so. Employed under false pretences?

True. But he won’t as we live in the age where it’s always someone else’s fault. He bit Levys hand off to secure his families future & sign a 6 year contract where he’d get approx 50 mill but wants to quit half way through? If he or anyone wants to go, make them put in a transfer request & sell ASAP. We’ve been moaning for years about bad apples in the squad – get them out.

“Some of Harry Kane’s England teammates do not expect him to return for preseason this summer” – which ones, do you have quotes?

4 finals 4 defeats and no goals. Various other semifinals when he didnt turn up. If he was the Talisman of the team then he had the chances and would be expected to win a trophy for his team. The Italian ‘wall’ didnt even allow him to touch the ball in the penalty area. I think he needs to look at himself and his performances in the big games.
