The report further claims that he would likely remain in France on loan for a season to continue his development.
Tottenham has more than enough midfield options at the moment and the Senegal international will hardly play if he moves to London immediately.
They could offload some of their current options before this transfer window closes with the likes of Moussa Sissoko and Tanguy Ndombele now out of the first-team plans at the club.
