Tottenham is battling Arsenal and Barcelona for the signature of Renato Sanches, according to Le10Sport.
The Lilywhites are set to bolster their squad in this transfer window as they attempt to support their new manager, Nuno Espirito Santo.
Several positions in their squad will be strengthened and their midfield is likely one of them.
In recent days they have been linked with a move for the likes of Houssem Aouar and the report says they have also joined the race for Sanches.
The Lille midfielder was one of Portugal’s best players at Euro 2020 and his performances caught the attention of top European clubs including Spurs, who are now plotting to sign him.
However, the latest club to join the race for his signature is Barcelona with the report claiming that the Catalans are keen to add him to their squad even though they have financial issues and need to offload some current members of their squad.
The report says Barca has been talking to the player’s representatives over a transfer.
However, in a boost to Tottenham’s chances of winning the race for his signature, Barcelona’s financial problems mean they cannot move for him right now.
The Catalans will have to wait and offload some of their current options and that could give Tottenham the chance to win the race for his signature.
