Tottenham Can Sign Dele Alli Upgrade For Fee Of Just £8m | Report

By Joe Fish -

Tottenham sources reportedly understand that they could sign Philippe Coutinho on a season-long loan next campaign for a fee of £8m.

Barcelona have reportedly outlined the terms for clubs looking to acquire the Brazilian who is unwanted at the Camp Nou and won’t be joining Bayern Munich, where he spent this year on loan, on a permanent basis.

According to Football Insider’s intel, Barcelona have told interested clubs that they would need to pay £8m and all of Coutinho’s salary to attain his services. The 27-year-old is said to earn in excess of £200,000 a week, so while the fee is pretty reasonable, wages could be a stumbling block.

Regular readers of this blog will know that I’m a big fan of Dele Alli and his worth to the team but the former Liverpool playmaker is on another level and we should do everything within our financial power to get him.

There may be a way to shoe-horn both Coutinho and Dele into the same team, with one of them playing as a narrow right-winger, and if not it will provide us with a competition for places we’ve never had at No.10.

And if we don’t get him, you can bet that one of our rivals will…

Coutinho an “upgrade” on Dele?
You’re having a laugh, or have no business writing about football. Delusional nonsense.

Would he be better than the Dele that was scoring goals like the cracker at Palace and that is if that Dele ever comes back.

The Eze boy at QPR. I’ve a funny feeling we’ll sign him. I really hope so. He’ll run at them all game.

You’re right, defence should be our priority given the fact we have the likes of: Kane, Son, Bergwijn, Dele, Lo Celso, Moura and Lamela to create and score goals.

As much as I’d love to see a player like Coutinho here, knowing we could never afford to keep him, it would feel like treading water.

I don’t think we should be there Involved in these sort of deals. I liked the Lo Celso loan because it was a step towards buying him. What good to us is a player for 1 season only, especially for a hefty price?

I’d buy him. Don’t know about borrowing him for £8mil. That money could go towards yousef atal. Great attacking right back. Total Tottenham player.

Exactly my thoughts Danny, no profit in it for the man, would probably break the wage structure. We can tie up over ten million in Jack Clark who has contributed precisely nothing but won’t entertain real quality. Forward players aren’t a pressing issue anyway. Spend the money if any on a defensive midfielder or defender.

£8m dead money. That’s not Levy style. He likes to invest in assists that can grow in value.
