Tottenham blocked a deadline day move away for highly rated youngster

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham blocked late moves for Jack Clarke yesterday, Football Insider has revealed.

The youngster joined Spurs from Leeds United last summer and he was allowed to return to Elland Road on loan.

His loan stint wasn’t successful as he only played a handful of games for them and he was recalled and sent to QPR for the second half of that season.

He similarly struggled at the London side and Tottenham has now decided not to allow him to leave this summer.

He has been impressing Jose Mourinho in training and although he will likely not play that often for the club this season, the Special One prefers to keep him so that he can train with the likes of Gareth Bale and Harry Kane.

The report claims that several Championship teams looked to sign him on deadline day and that Birmingham had the strongest interest in him.

However, the offers were all turned down as the club wants him to learn his trade with them.

It claims that Spurs prefer for him to play with the Under23s and work towards a first-team breakthrough.

The 19-year-old has already had a taste of first-team football at Leeds, and he will be hoping to get more at Spurs soon.

So on that strange basis if we send him to Barca he’ll come back as Messi?

Well if I moved in with Alan Sugar or Richard Branson I’d still never become a millionaire.
