Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld has been named as one of Tottenham’s PFA Community Champions for 2019-20.
Jenna Schillaci also picked up the award, on behalf of our Women’s side, which recognises off-field work during the season.
An honour to get the @PFA Community Champion award for 2019/20! As footballers, I think we all have an important role in giving back to the local community and I have always enjoyed connecting with people in this way 👍💙 #THFC pic.twitter.com/Gzqrbusz5t

Alderweireld got involved in several of the club’s community causes and has gone the extra mile off his own initiative in lockdown with various generous acts to support the NHS and key workers during the lockdown.

Well done Toby and Jenna. Great work.
Agreed, a very good role model for all footballers.
Nor would we expect him to.
Yes, an admirable person. Listening to 5 Live yesterday, Belgium manager Roberto Martinez expects Jan Vertonghen to go into coaching when he stops playing.
As far as I’m aware he hasn’t shouted all this from the rooftops by plastering it all over Twitter too. Top man, top player.
