“To make it worse”- Pundit slams Tottenham star for what he did against Leicester City during the 4-1 defeat

By Mehdi Gokal -

Eric Dier has faced criticism from Don Hutchison for his reaction after Tottenham conceded a goal against Leicester City.

Hutchison blamed Dier for being responsible for the two goals scored by Iheanacho and Harvey Barnes, citing his passive approach and failure to engage the attackers.

Furthermore, Dier was seen pointing fingers at his teammates, which irritated Hutchison, who said that it is one of his pet hates.

Speaking on The Gab and Juls Podcast (via TBR), he said:

“Defensively, they were all over the place. Eric Dier, there’s two goals where Eric Dier’s passive, and he’s standing off Iheanacho, doesn’t engage him. Go and close him down. And then Harvey Barnes, he does exactly the same thing.”

“To make it worse, which I hate, it’s one of my pet hates, he starts pointing at everyone else. ‘You do this, you do that’. You do it! That is Tottenham all over.”

Tottenham’s defense has been one of the issues this season, with manager Antonio Conte attempting to address the problem during the summer and winter transfer windows.

However, the club failed to sign any of his preferred targets, leaving him short of quality defenders in the squad.

Spurs are reportedly still interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie, who recently signed a new contract with the German club.

However, signing just one defender may not be enough for the club to improve its defense.

With Clement Lenglet also expected to return to Barcelona in the summer, fans will be hoping to see at least two new top-class defenders arrive at the club.
