“Time for the manager to move him on” pundit on out of favour Tottenham star

By Bruce Grove -

Paul Konchesky agrees that Dele Alli can be a very brilliant player on his day, but the Englishman will struggle to break into this Tottenham team at the moment.

Alli has fallen down the pecking order in dramatic fashion this season and with Tottenham now gaining momentum in the title race and other competitions, it is hard to see him getting into the team.

On three occasions, he has been trusted to start a game, but his poor performance has seen him get hauled off at half time.

Konchesky, who spent 2003 at Tottenham on loan from Charlton Athletic, claims that Tottenham now has a lot of strength in depth and that will make it hard for Alli to get in the team.

He adds that even though Alli can be a brilliant player, now is the time for him to be moved on.

“Spurs’ strength in depth is second to none now, and I think it’s time for the manager to move him on,” Konchesky told Caughtoffside.

“On his day he’s unbelievable, but he won’t get in the Tottenham team now.”

Alli was linked with a move to PSG in the last transfer window, Spurs refused to sell him, but now that he has become surplus to requirements, maybe the Lilywhites will listen to offers for him.

Lo Celso looks quality to me with a great work rate. Because the pressing is much less under Jose, players are told to be disciplined and to get back into position without the ball.

There’s no way LoCelso won’t be used by Jose as we made the deal permanent after he arrived. Although he did say “this is something from Mauricio’s time here before I came”.

I don’t see Jose here for the long haul, but he needs to get the players doing things his way in the present. I think Gio is a good enough lad to fit in with Jose for the greater good.

He scored loads in Spain and I thought when he signed his contribution of goals & assists would make up for Eriksens tally. He let himself down badly against Antwerp, not tracking back when Davies lost the ball and I am not convinced Jose has his full trust. He carried on playing last season with an injury and is nowhere near at his best yet this season.

Thanks for the stats. I think he’s potentially a very good player with a good goal scoring record in Spain, check the stats, but I wonder if he is fully fit. He never seems to play 90 mins.

Still waiting for LoCelso to find any form also,33 PL games, 0 goals, 2 assists, 26 shots ,7 on target. He has looked better coming off the bench than nailing down a starting position.

Is he any worse than Moura or Bergwjin through in terms of quality? At least he gives you something different off the bench. Moura is so overrated it’s untrue…
