Tottenham appear to have missed out on the signing of Thomas Meunier, with Nicolo Schria reporting that the PSG right-back has agreed a four-year deal with Borussia Dortmund.
Meunier’s contract in Paris expires in June and Spurs had been heavily linked to him as a solution to our right-back issues, with The Express reporting as recently as today that we were in talks to sign the Belgian international on a free transfer.
However, Italian journalist Schria has proven himself to be a much more reliable source and tweeted this afternoon about the agreement in place for Meunier to move to The Westfalenstadion.
Dome deal! Thomas #Meunier joins #BVB as a free agent at the end of the season. The belgian right-back will sign 4-years contract with #BorussiaDortmund and he will replace Achraf #Hakimi, who comes-back to #RealMadrid. All confirmed what i said 3 months ago! #transfers

So Serge Aurier lives to fight another day.
A silver lining to take from this news is that there is one less club in the running for Achraf Hakimi if Meunier is being signed to replace the 21-year-old Moroccan, as Schria indicates.
Hakimi will initially head back to Real Madrid but may be made available on loan again, and Mundo Deportivo reported our interest in April. I would much rather have him than Meunier, even if it’s only a loan.

I read an article a few weeks back praising Aurier’s work further forward (probably written by a Clapper like Tapper) unbelievable a RB who can’t defend. Apparently Levy is going to sort this problem out by signing yet another midfielder.
So another top, desperately needed transfer target escapes our grasp. It’s not as if we haven’t heard this sort of rubbish before. It’s Levy’s MO.
This is disappointing. We desperately needed a right back and he was a good one and free. I can’t believe we are not as attractive a proposal as Dortmund. We can’t have gone for him that hard.
