“This man is a class, just because of him I am still Spurs fan” These fans raving about Spurs star

By Bruce Grove -

Tanguy Ndombele has turned his Tottenham career around this season despite making a very slow start to life in London.

He joined the club in the summer of 2019, but had a tough first season in London.

Reports even linked him with a move away from the club at the start of this season after he had fallen out of favour with Jose Mourinho.

However, the club kept him and that has proven to be a smart decision now as he has started delivering.

He is arguably the most skilful member of the current Tottenham team and has been relied upon for the club’s creativity.

His range of skills includes making some exciting passes and also scoring rare types of goals.

Ahead of their match against Crystal Palace, the club posted a clip of him making a pass with a rabona skill and the fans cannot help but profess their love for the Frenchman. Here are some reactions:

He needs to start showing it then. He is 24 and only has 14 career goals in 6 seasons and 3 League assists in his time at Spurs (only 1 this season). Hardly special is it? I can only think of Sheff Utd and first half v Fulham where he looked like a £200k a week footballer.

Taarabt had more skill than Ndom. He was a magician with a very questionable attitude.

At the moment I remember Ndom in one Ch Lg game v City when he was at Lyon. I keep hanging to a thread that he will repeat that for us. The thread is fraying though. He has yet to play well v a top side this season.

He’s improved his fitness markedly since he came here, but he’s had to play most of our games so he sometimes gets knackered after 70 minutes – that’s quite understandable nowadays, when Hojbjergs are a rare breed.

Agreed. He probably should contribute a bit more in the “goals and assists” department, but he’s one of the few players I trust when receiving a ball in a tight spot, and he seems to have a way of always getting past players and a lot of forward drive.

Hojbjerg and Ndombele are basically undroppable – the only question there is is who plays with them.

If he can’t be fit after all the time he’s been with us there is something inherently wrong with him.He also needs to influence games more and provide more goals and assists.

He has still got so much to prove imo, he’s not making enough impact for the reputed talent he supposedly has, and his fitness levels are open to question.

There’s more to Tanguy than a few flicks and tricks. If you were talking about Spurs era Marcus Edwards or Adel Tarabt, then I hear you. Tanguy is something special, make no mistake…

Ndom has street football skills, but his goals and assists do not match his talent. Same with Lo Celso. More is needed at the business end for sure. 2 fancy turns a game does not cut it with me, bit like Dele’s flicks. There were signs against high flying Fulham that he was shifting the ball quicker, but he ambles around with no urgency.

I once watched a match in the Maracana and some lad did an overhead kick in the centre of the pitch. The crowd went wild, but it did nothing in the game. Some fans are like magpies. They see shiny things but can’t differentiate between a spoon and a diamond.
