Roma has held fresh contacts with Tottenham to negotiate terms for Radu Drăgușin, with talks described as advancing quickly and gaining momentum.
Roma, under manager Gian Piero Gasperini, is looking to bolster their defence for the second half of the season, and it has ramped up their pursuit significantly in the last few days (as of January 8-9, 2026).
The preferred structure appears to be a loan deal with an option or conditional obligation to buy (potentially becoming mandatory based on performance), though Tottenham reportedly prefer a permanent sale and has set an asking price around €15 million (with the player’s agent noting the figure would be higher).
Drăgușin himself is keen on the move, and his agent (Florin Manea) has publicly confirmed ongoing negotiations, stating he’s in London discussing it, and multiple reports say the 23-year-old Romanian international has given his approval and wants to leave Spurs to revive his career.
This comes after Drăgușin recently returned from a long-term cruciate ligament injury (ACL tear) that sidelined him for nearly a year, limiting him to minimal minutes at Tottenham (e.g., just 5 in the Premier League this season).
A return to Serie A, where he previously played for Genoa and Juventus, is seen as ideal for regular football.
Well-established Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe understands that, whilst there are no talks currently underway, discussions are a distinct possibility.
I take the view that Radu Dragusin is simply another Tottenham player that everyone is waiting for to come of age, professionally. We keep buying prospects, and the reality is that THFC need to buy more ‘oven-ready’ stars.
The deal isn’t done yet, and the next few days are crucial for bridging the valuation gap — but Italian outlets like Gianluca Di Marzio, Gazzetta dello Sport, and Corriere dello Sport, along with the player’s agent, indicate it’s a very hot topic right now. Roma view him as a ready-made, physically strong addition familiar with the league.
Other clubs, such as Fiorentina, have been mentioned, but Roma seem to be leading the race, and Drăgușin reportedly prefers them over alternatives.
