Tottenham inserted a clause in Nuno Espirito Santo’s contract that would see them pay him no compensation if they sack him at the end of this season if he cannot secure a top-six finish.
This has been hailed by some football fans considering that managers always earn huge compensation after being sacked and Tottenham is probably still paying one to Jose Mourinho.
The Lilywhites missed out on several managerial targets before they hired Nuno Santo as their current boss.
The Portuguese coach did a good job at Wolves before departing at the end of last season, but he didn’t seem to inspire enough confidence from Spurs and they protected themselves with the break clause.
It was revealed by The Athletic and David Ornstein posted the news on his Twitter account.
Football fans took to the comments to react to the development. Here are some of the best reactions:
They’ve finally learned how to draft a contract. I’m sure mourinho is still getting monthly cheques from them

Mourinho really did one over Levy he’s realized now.

No wonder many of the coaches walked away from spurs after the contract negotiation started.

Was nuno that desperate for a job?
Levy is a mad one
ha, the fact that even exists show you what a bad appointment that was for Spurs; Levy lost the plot with his last 2 managerial appointments

Nuno Santo will now look to exceed expectations at the club by the end of the campaign.
Meanwhile Harry Kane loafs around Hotspur way with his ball & chain of a 6 year contract.
Lewis should insert a clause in Levy’s contract saying if he doesn’t stop being an ass hole in the managerial and transfer market he gets sacked without any compensation.
