“They are looking” – Fabrizio Romano makes Spurs January transfer admission

By Mehdi Gokal -

Fabrizio Romano has told GiveMeSport that Inter Milan will not sell Alessandro Bastoni to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.

The reliable journalist has been told that Inter does not intend on selling the defender in the middle of the season.

Bastoni was heavily linked with a move to Spurs in the summer but after Spurs failed to sign any of their main centre-back targets they signed Barcelona’s Clement Lenglet on loan as a stop-gap.

The defender has once again been linked with Italian outlet Inter Live, reporting last month that Tottenham are interested in signing and could approach the club with a bid worth close to £44 million.

The report also claims that Manchester City and Manchester United are also interested in the Italian. But, Inter are preparing to open new contract talks with the player in the hope to fend off interest from the Premier League clubs.

Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Tottenham are eager to strengthen their defense in January and want to sign a centre-back but claims that Inter Milan are not going to be willing to sell their star defender in January.

He told GIVEMESPORT:

“They’re looking for a centre-back because, in that position, they probably need a new player in January.

“I have seen a lot of links with Alessandro Bastoni, but I’m told that Inter are not open to letting him go in January.”

There is no doubt that Spurs’ interest in Bastoni is real and they are going to be willing to pay good money for him. Dean Jones has also previously stated that Spurs view the defender as ‘an absolute dream signing’.
