The ‘Spurs Ace Breaks Transfer Silence’ Video

By The Boy -

Serge Aurier is taking being unwanted and unsellable quite well.

Fair play to him.

“What competition? There isn’t any. I’d simply decided to leave [this summer], which was normal for me. Many things were taken into consideration. In the end, I wasn’t able to leave. It proves the club trust me on a lot of points, and we’ll see.

Sports Witness

The use of language is interesting here. That he had decided to leave, yet wasn’t able to leave.

This was the same situation with a number of Tottenham’s valiant lads who, this summer, were delusional as to their worth to this club, or any other.

Spot on mate. Thing for me is, I sort of don’t mind clubs raking in the cash as such – though ticket prices is another matter – so long as it’s pumped back into the squad. My gripe with Enic is, as you’ve said, they’ve no desire to win at football. For me the equation is simple: have a decent team, make more money, invest in the squad, have a better team, make more money… and on it goes with the end goal at a huge club like Spurs of surely being in a position to try and win things. They’ve already got to their end goal of top 4, just as most clubs’ end goal is simply staying in the Premier League cash cow at the expense of even trying in the domestic cups. I suppose it’s all hunkydory for the tourist fans and social media morons, but not so good for that traditional ‘customer’ I mentioned earlier.

I know what you mean. Its when you see players fighting for contracts and basically sticking 2 fingers up at fans to be paid more a week than most will earn in 10yrs. Most of the players would barely make minimum wage without football – yet we are supposed to be happy to pay “only £50 for some home games”. The whole machine is a disgrace. I love Spurs, but the issue is, ENIC has exposed what the whole industry is, no illusions of trying to win, just money in vs money out. There are some clubs like City don’t care about money in, but they are aware they can buy the league, and they are playing a longer game with a super league at the end so they can do an NFL and simply print money through tight controls over competition and who enters.

yes – if he lost his pace, Sterling would simply be crap. Take away a top supply line and…well!
I was being told by a scouser today that Kane wouldn’t get in their team, and has proved he is over rated by how poor he has been for Spurs past 6months…

I like the line about being charged for a cuppa at your mums. What saddens me most in all this is that something I once wholeheartedly and, I suppose, somewhat innocently supported now leaves me frustrated, dubious and angry. It might just be an age thing (I’m 47), or the state of the world, or who knows what, but my levels of cynicism towards Enic and the modern game in general are such that the thing I loved most (family, kids etc aside, of course) has been tainted to the point I often feel as though I hate it more than love it. It’s always been about money to some degree (most things are), but now the greed has become so transparent I feel like an idiot for falling for it. Wall-to-wall coverage and all the shait that it brings, ex-pros talking bollocks to fill airtime or web pages on click-bait dross like HITC and SpursWeb, Enic’s constant PR, Graham f***ing Roberts! Drives me nuts mate.

Its because to a fan its a family, a religion, a beacon of which you would be hard pushed to leave. Its not like changing your supermarket. To the “business” we are nothing more than a punter, one that they can treat as poorly as they choose. We feel aggrieved because its like being charged for a cuppa at your mums. or your church declaring that they have merged with the local hardware store, and the surmon will be interrupted with ads.

To be fair to raheem he has sorted his final ball out. At the bindippers he was with gerrard suarez some great players and his final ball went begging every time. Aaron lennon in disguise.. I think pep Guardiola is a bit of a helmet but hes miraculously helped sterling to sort out that final ball. Hes now up there with the best with assists and goals.. I suspect it was a pressure thing. Peps taught him how to relax and deal with it and make sure of it.. Rather than crumble eriksen style.. Raheems pace is invaluable. Every defenders worst nightmare is dealing with extreme pace.. We have lucas moura but thats about it

Another buyrite damaged rail waste. Definition of madness…..

On another note I just saw Jermaine Pennent talking about the hat trick he scored on his debut for Arsenal, he says he was half cut at the time and when asked how he managed to do that at that level pissed he replyed….” with Pires, Bergkamp, Henry, etc etc you don’t have to do much just be in a decent position”….. That my friends is Rahim Sterling in a nushell at City.

Aurier seems to be another of those halfhearted, standing still signings Enic tend to make. Scratching round for ‘maybes’ rather than going for proven, undoubted quality that come with a premium. Buy cheap, buy twice springs to mind. As does going nowhere fast. On another note, just got my usual ‘matchday guide’ email from Enic, imploring me to get in the ground early and stay there late so that my money is spent within the shopping centre rather than the wider Tottenham community. Also got a recent email touting tours of what they described as the ‘only purpose-built NFL facility outside the US’. It all makes good business sense, of course. But football is a strange business indeed, one where the traditional ‘customer’ hates being treated and thought of as precisely that: a customer. I’ve never felt so out of touch with the ‘product’ I’ve been spending my time, money and emotions on since my first game at the Lane in 1983.

I would rather we had got shot of him than Trip. Trip was a square peg in a round hole, but this guy is a very oddly shaped peg where no whole was ever made for. He will not fit any model because he is simply not good enough.
