The Boy’s Unrelenting Reaction To The Palace Fiasco [video]

By Bill Tidy -

A full autopsy in the morning we are assured; but in the interim, he’s our illustrious leaders’ reaction to the fiasco at Selhurst Park today which saw perennial Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace put the ball past Hugo Lloris 3 times.

Primary concerns are the continued glacial efforts made in respect of our transfer business. Who knows what Tottenham will achieve this season without a midfield playmaker… The situation with Tanguy Ndombele in any other business would have inarguably become the subject of a full-scale enquiry, as to how so much money had been spent so unwisely.

In 2000 or 2001 cant remember ,I was in the uk and watched the game where spurs played Southampton and we won 7-2 ,I rememebr being not far away from the owner ,think it was Lewis, levy or who ever owned the club,I should of taken 1 for the team and headbutted them. I would probably of been getting released from jail around this current time.but o well

I would say that if Royal is not inclined to the complete brain farts that Aurier had, he will be an upgrade. A tendency to give away barmy penalties or free kicks, like the penalty Aurier gave away at Goodison makes a player a complete liability.

Not every transfer works out – every single team in every single league has players they have bought and end up not working out. If we can’t sell a player I would rather do what we did to Aurier than what we did with Rose.

Sissoko – we were never going to make that money back – we bought him at a much older age than we buy most players knowing we were going to lose most of it when we sold him.

They started a squad rebuild and that should be lauded, even if leaving so late to start the rebuild should rightly be criticized.

Not supporting Poch from the time we came runners up in the league and then again when runners up in the Champions league with a team running on fumes was inexcusable. Replacing Poch with a chequebook manager without a chequebook was stupid. But, we appear to at least be back on the correct track.

We got very lucky in the first three games, all which of should have been draws, and got completely shafted by Fifa in the last game. Losing 2 CB and a playmaker at the same time both our wingers were injured was terrible. Any game in which Winks and Ben play is a game we aren’t going to win.

Winks should have been got rid of but I guess no-one is looking to buy a player of his poor quality. Winks does nothing at all. He is terrible off the ball, well below the level for a premier league player even at a bottom tier club. On the ball he is better, but often settles for square passes. Ben is just a last resort back-up in case of apocalypse. When he comes on we know we are already in big trouble.

His confidence is probably quite low too he had worked his way into the team with some decent performances but then never played for us again since Mourinho left until yesterday….

Zaha has pretty much kept Palace in the premier league for the last 4 or 5 years. Their record with him and without him in the side emphasises how important he is to them.
If he’s that bad what does that make our newest recruit who he made a complete mug of yesterday?
Moura will dine out our forever on his one night in Amsterdam where he scored as many goals as he did for us in the whole of last season. As for Bergwijn apart from his debut goal I can’t recall a single thing of note that he’s done since

Utter rubbish, he is not as good as Moura and arguably about on a level with Bergwijn. Any Champions League semi-final hat-tricks on Zaha’s CV? Plus he is a whining c***, always complaining about something. Arguably the most unlikeable player in the entire EPL and that’s saying something … oh and finally, he is a boyhood Gooner!

I am still more annoyed by those treacherous Argies than Dim Davies at least he was there to put his hand up (literally).
Nuno in what dimension do you think Winks is better option than Gil. Gil knows his main role is to slip the ball to Kane.
So in one foul swoop you have managed to pess off 2 players (plus NDonkey).

Note to Nuno “Must do better”

Paratici will be jettisoned as soon as excuses need to be found for further failings on the pitch. Managers, DOFs Levy and ENIC use them like bog roll, as he does the supporters…

Levy is the one contentious thread through this farce. Poch was proven to be a top, top manager. Levy failed to back him in the transfer market and refresh the squad for several windows, nor pay some of the world class players within it what they were worth. Then to cap it all he sacked the one great manager we’ve had in recent years, because of his (Levy) failings. Since then we’ve been on an ever increasing slide down and away from success.
What other club had many of their players desperate to leave; Kane, N’Dombele, Aurier etc. That says volumes for the atmosphere at the club. We look big and impressive from the outside but we are toxic within. We’re a gold plated tankard that contains nothing but stale, flat beer.

Fully agree in terms of the transfer business. We didn’t strengthen the squad, just replaced like for like but with players who are not yet and may never be PL ready. Our recent transfer business has been appalling. Aurier £23 million, contract terminated. Sissoko £30 million, sold for £2.5. We would need to take massive hits on Doherty, NDombele and Lo Celso to get them out of the door. Why is there no accountability? Why is Hitchen still at the club? In any other line of business faikure on such a scale would be met by the sack instead he is promoted to a board position. It beggars belief.

Having said all this I think Nuno has to take some of the blame for yesterday. He is meant to be a tactically flexible coach so why play a 4-2-3-1? Dele is not suited to playing as a wide forward and a midfield three of Winks, Skipp and Hojbjerg is seriously lacking in creativity. Having said this his hsnds were obviously tied given the “cardboard cutouts’ we had on the bench.

He’s tried to get out of Palace but they have always overpriced him. His time at United was unfortunate but he was very young and sometimes things don’t work out. Like Harry he may well have missed the boat both domestically and in his case internationally. He is still twice as good as what we have in the same position

We had a good start. Granted. But that result was a tribute to any fan who claimed Spurs had a good summer transfer window.
Once you remove our “best” players from that line up you are left with very little else.
I’ve got nothing against Nuno in the same way I had nothing against Jose, Poch etc etc … the list goes on. The undoubtable issue we have is not with the managers, it’s the players.

he chose to be a big’ish fish in a small’ish pond – not sure if I’d use the word ‘coward’ myself but he’s definitely made a conscious choice to operate from a comfort zone.

For me my main criticism is how he carries himself on the field and how he makes everything ‘about me’, just grating behaviour.

A decent player no doubt though, the terrible realisation is he would improve our squad right now but that doesn’t mean I like to watch him on the field. Deeply annoying to watch.

The most concerning thing about Levy is he seems incapable of learning from his mistakes. He’s stuck in an endless loop of stupidity and negligence for the club but is making millions for himself and enic doing it. Perhaps a mid table finish this season might focus his mind a bit?

Notice no other club wanted N’Dombele at the time either, but again, was probably a 5-6 year payment plan so Levy took the punt…

See my post above…my understating was Fernandez wanted to come but the club wanted 50% up front…Le Celso ended up being a loan to buy option and then (probably) spread over 5-6 years…spreadsheet first, football 2nd…they don’t use their own money to invest (which you could easily create a pay pack interest free option from ENIC so they still get their money back) so every player purchased has to be on a payment scheme…

Quite simply because Levy’s transfer policy has been to overprice the players he wants to sell and to underbid the players he wants to buy. Having seen the price Liverpool got for Coutinho, he placed a similar valuation on Eriksen. He tried to sell an obviously crocked Dembele for £30 mill and he valued Alderweireld at circa £75 mill. Needless to say, he didn’t achieve anything like these prices. Levy’s abiding weakness is that he is penny wise and pound foolish. The legion of continually rinsed Spurs fans prattle on about our world class facilities and now Levy’s appointment to the ECA whilst forgetting his involvement in the ESL and his disastrous tenure as the Spurs CEO. If you continue to worship at the altar of Enic and Levy’s nonsensical mantra that we are different and that we are a self sustainable business, why don’t you support a a publicly quoted property company because it is quite obvious that we are not a football club.

Lo celso & Tanguy . 100 million combined in transfer fees… + wages & between them you may get 100 minutes of EPL football a week.. says it all really… Levy is Abramovich on the cheap, except he doesnt fully back his managers, and signs players they dont ask for.

Levy would never buy an Ings….he gets players that he can right off over 5 years and will keep an asset value so the money can be easily borrowed…thats why we miss out on many targets that require big deposits…….its spreadsheet buying, sometimes he gets luck…his luck is running out….

Buying Lo Celso instead of Fernandez was a major strategic blunder by Levy. But as usual he went for the cheapest option knowing nothing about football.

Agree, we replace Eriksen & Dembele with Winks (not good enough and hasn’t been for two seasons so nothing new) and Skipp (good potential but thrown in the deep end) both of which cost nothing so sum’s up Levy….I can’t remember enjoying watching Spurs play football for a long long time….Levy is running out of managers and we will struggle to entice big names to come as the more time goes by the more we become embarrassing…unless Levy can find players that love fancy taps and marble floor..lets be honest, there’s plenty of fans out there that obviously do because the stadium is full..

Nuno will eventually start getting blamed just like every other manager as Levy spins the magic PR merry-go-round…we have a worse squad than last year…when they say re-build, I think they were talking about Levy’s new golf course…

Usual poor strategic decisions from the little puppet master. Levy may have thought he’d screwed Kane over by forcing him to stay but Kane may well have the last laugh because he’s obviously not the same player he was last season as he must be feeling pretty pi ssed at not getting his move. N’Dombele is not going to be very impressed either, he’ll be off like a rocket first chance he gets and who can blame him? The world class stadium and facilities disguise a threadbare squad with not much talent. A team that has been cut to the bone to pay Mr Levy his grotesque bonus for achieving failure every season, and sacking the one decent manager we had.
Transfer window seriously over-rated imo. Only real player of note is Romero. Emerson is not an upgrade on Aurier if you dig into his stats. Gil and Sarr are more jam tomorrow players. Instead of wasting money on cheap (or not so cheap in case of Sessegnon) punts why didn’t we just buy Watkins or Ings?
What we desperately need is another striker and a proper playmaker. How are we to replace the goals from Bale and Vinicious – 16 in total from last season?
We’re going to slide further I fear. Playing 3 DM’s against Palace shows what we have become. We’re turning into Wolves but without Traore.

Keeping an unhappy player in the first 11 disrupts sqaud harmony… Kane is a professional but his body language today was devoid of passion or energy.. quite noticeable too many teams in the top half of the table rested several of their players who played in midweek… not us all of ours started.. it showed too as we often outmuscled… Lo celso is 💩, when was the last time he completed 90 minutes in an EPL game? I think Nuno, just like his predecessor has realised this sqaud isnt all that good. Its all rather Spursy that our record signing & joint highest wage earner hasnt featured for us since Mourinho departed…

Marbella Spur

Sad to say but an entirely predictable result today. We are now 5th in the table and will probably slide further down it until we find our rightful place. I listened to HH’s video and found it hard to disagree with much. I will mention a couple of things he did not cover. I did mention before that I was finding it hard to differentiate much between Mourinho’s and Santo’s playing style. My question is why did we employ a manager who was let go by Wolves for being too negative only for Levy to put out some complete bullsh*t story that we needed a manager who could fulfil the Spurs style of play? The truth is that the managers we really wanted to sign didn’t want to work for Levy and this applies to many of the players we were linked with. With regards to our transfer policy, the laughable agenda being put about by Levyologists that thanks to Don Paratici, we had a good window are beyond the point of parody. The major issues were not addressed. Many contributors on this site suggested that Oddard was a potentially good back up for Kane but as usual we failed to address the problem of only having one central striker and if either he or Son get injured, we are very light in this area. If we are going into a game against a mediocre side like Palace with three DMs and no playmaker , then we had better make sure that they can do the job. It is quite obvious that Winks is not physically strong enough to play that role and I am having serious doubts about Skipp as well. With regards to Alli, HH summed it up that he is a complete and utter waste of space. AS a contributor wrote below , we have never replaced the likes of Eriksen, Dembele, J an and Toby. If any supporter really thinks that Paratici is in charge of our transfer policy, they must be deluded. He is merely a buffer for Levy. Shame on any of you who continue to defend Enic and Levy.

Agreed, Kane should’ve been sold and brought in Ings, a backup option striker (take your pick for 2nd rate PL proven goalscorers), CAM and then also a midfield boss to replace the shocking buys of Lo Celso and Ndombele (my pick was Traore but I know a lot disagree).

Maybe we didn’t get the offer we needed to make all that happen but in all seriousness it was probably Levy saving face and trying not to strengthen a “direct competitor’, a direct competitor that is head and shoulders above us competing for titles each and every season while we rattle around moving from one embarrassment to another.

I dont expect Nuno to last past February… what we saw today was similar to many performances over the last 3 years…a sluggish performance unable to break the opposition down…. we rode our luck first 3 games this season, but it looks like that luck is up… the main difference between Watford & Palace is the latter have that bit of extra quality in the final 3rd… Chelsea & the gooners next… Im not expecting anything from those games either. Im expecting us to be in the 10th-12th areas come Xmas… the decision to not sell Kane will really cost us.

Total joke to not have quicky and efficiently replaced Mousa Dembele and Christian Eriksen. It took an age to sell them let alone replace them, why is it that every other club can successfully negotiate these sorts of deals and the management of our club is so entirely devoid of any sense of purpose.

Now exactly the same thing is happening with Toby and Vertonghen, our defence and especially the ability to play out of said defence is kaput. Just wait and watch it happen over and over again with Kane, Lloris, Son and Moura. Bad buys over and over again.
