‘Talks have already begun’: Italian journalist confirms Spurs are working on a deal to replace Conte with world-class manager

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering bringing back their former manager Mauricio Pochettino, who was relieved of his duties in 2019.

The future of current manager Antonio Conte remains uncertain as he has not yet signed a new contract with the team, which is set to end at the end of the season.

Conte has been openly critical of the club’s transfer policy and has stated that the squad needs significant investment to compete with other top teams like Manchester City and even Arsenal.

The Times reported that the club’s hierarchy is not impressed with Conte airing his grievances in public.

Italian journalist Marco Conterio has now claimed that Tottenham are ‘already working’ and that ‘talks have already begun’ with Pochettino about a potential return to the club.

The Argentine had a successful five-year stint at Tottenham, guiding the team to a Champions League final just months before he was let go.

He then went on to win his first trophies as a manager with Paris Saint-Germain.

Many Tottenham fans would welcome Pochettino back with open arms, as he had built a close bond with them during his tenure. Appointed as the Spurs manager in 2014, he led the team to the League Cup final in his first full season. He also led the team to two third-place finishes, a runners-up spot in the Premier League in 2017, and fourth place in his final campaign as well as a Champions League final.

Tottenham needs to make a decision about Conte’s future as soon as possible, as the club is still competing in the Champions League and FA Cup, and also has an outside chance of securing a top-four spot.

If Conte plans to leave at the end of the season, it would be better for the club to bring in Pochettino and start the painful rebuild he had previously called for.
