Talks Underway For Fading Spurs Ace Who Made 23 Appearances But All From The Bench Last Season

Al Nassr FC are in the frame for Spurs’ Lucas Moura, according to Al Jazeera’s sources. This may come as quite a shock to some fans, given the way the diminutive Brazilian cemented himself into so many hearts with his insane come-back goals against Ajax in the Champions League semi-final.

The rather less sympathetic reality is that Moura has really struggled to pick up meaningful game-time. Indeed, even after his great work against Ajax, he was dropped for the final.

Last season, Lucas made 30 Premier League appearances for Spurs, but 23 were from the bench. One area Tottenham has an over-abundance of options is in the midfield, and it might the case that with his 29th birthday looming in August, it might be time to organize a profitable swansong in the sun.

I like Moura, however, this squad desperately needs a thorough spring-clean and this would be a good step forward towards that aim.

Get rid of the deadwood first before even mentioning Lucas. The lad may be a bit hit and miss with his end product but his attitude is good. He was one of Levy’s cheap as chips additions and has probably replayed his cost now. Would struggle to make a top 4 team though.

I noticed he is often times listed as a midfield player which he is not. Like Alli and Tanguy they are playing out of position. Alli is an attacking Mid not a #10. Too often that is where he is drifting out wide to create space. Lucas is a winger with tremendous pace gile and speed. He is on the job training a
Playing the middle because we became so defensive. With his speed he should be giving wingbacks nightmare, but too often he is playing like a second right back. I have so much repsect for Pep and the way he uses his players. Walker is less expose on the right and City really never had a leftback cemented in the position, but Pep ensure who was there played defense first. We have this notion that wingbacks are suppose bomb the flanks and we ended up with our midfield stretched and exposed with them being caught so often upfield. Usually the results are, they out out of position scrambling to get back more time than not giving a awau sillu fouls around the box. See Serge many silly giveaways

I know he is not a star player but I see Mora as one of the few players in the squad with a real professional attitude. He always gives 100%. I wouldn’t be crying if he went but there must be a dozen other sicknotes, wasters or error prone defenders I would like to see the back of before Mora.

I doubt it. He was never involved in build up play, just run and hope to get past defenders then look surprised when he invariably lost the ball.
Where he ends up will say a lot.

Who would take them Des, if they have years on their contracts like Rose they’ll sit and not move unless they get more money elsewhere.

I like Lucas as a man and player but Spurs need to ditch this attitude where running about a lot and trying really hard is enough to get you into the first team.

Hard to disagree, overall though he was always going to be a squad player. Fairly telling that a team from one of the Arab leagues are where he’s being linked to, Amsterdam was freak occurrence for Lucas.

Mason didn’t have a clue. I appreciate that he was placed in a difficult position but when literally everyone could see that and him do the opposite as patently ridiculous.

Typical. Someone who actually tried and gave a feck even if it was with limited success and opportunities is one of the first to be shipped out when there are so many others who deserve to be shunted out ahead of him.

He was bilge until January, but there are plenty ahead of him that need to go.

He has a great attitude does Moura but I am still not quite sure what his best position is. I thought he was beginning to carve out a place in the team in an advanced midfield role under Jose but his end product is often shocking

I really like Moura because he comes on and it lifts the team , he fights and battles for everything like a little terrier . Watch the Leicester game and notice his influence. Get rid of the mediocrity like Winks, Lamela , Aurier, Sissoko

I think he was shoddily treated by Mason, was our best player in the cup final & was hooked 2nd half… I’d much rather see us sell: Lanela, Winks, Alli, Doherty, Aurrier etc, however I agree with the sentiment the squad needs refreshed

When you consider the amount of truly deadwood at the club I would be much happier if we could shift others as with our track record we could easily end up with worse than Moura.
