Take a look at our plausible XI for tonight’s big game

By The Boy -

Antonio Conte’s Spurs certainly have the bookies onside, the odds against this evening’s hosts look impossible to overcome. Indeed, NS MUR cannot recover their situation in this tournament and will simply be playing for pride tonight.

This plausible XI is our best guess at the starting XI Conte will run with – the Italian will not want his name associated with failure at this level. One would expect for Spurs to go in heavy and gradually remove the big guns as the goals go in.

Surely even Doherty is a safe pick against this lot?! 😆

If nothing else Conte is proving to be logical with selections.

I wasn’t far off the actual team. I too would of tested Winks out more. I’m glad Son isn’t starting.

Am with you on Winks. Start Winks to determine if he has it in him to be more than what we all know then Skipp on for match fitness. I would go with Rodon as well and Sanchez. My concern is if Sanchez has the discipline to be the central and last defender marshaling the 2 young lads on his outsides. Dier needs a rest and Davies cannot play central so Sanchez it is. Tanguy next to Winks should make his passing stats look good as all he need to do is pass it 10 yards sideways 😆. With Stevie out i go with Gil to add some punch diving in from the left. I do not want to see the kid playing on the right. After more games or years yes, he is still learning to cope and he has always been on the left in Spain.

My guess is Sonny will start up front and Harry off the bench or vice versa. I also think Rodon in for Davies and Dele for Lucas.

I’d swap out Tanganga or Davies for Rodon. Put in Winks instead of Skipp. Swap out Lucas & Son for Gil & Dele.
Son doesn’t need more minutes. With Kane’s erratic form, Sonny is currently our most dangerous attacking option. I’d wrap him up in cotton wool.

Definitely hope Sessy can get some game time and kick on.. And hopefully we can bring Kane off at half time, or 60 odd minutes.
