Tactical sub? Lazy Dele stank the stadium out against Everton and was pulled at Half Time for very good reason

By The Boy -

Jose Mourinho once again branded Dele Alli lazy, this time, telling The Sun that “I needed them to be more dynamic there”, the there being specifically about Dele.

The gaffer also added that some players had the wrong state of mind, which is curious turn of phrase for a coach to use.

I’m growing increasingly tired of saying that these are testing times, but they are and every team needs their stars to be at their very best. Dele Alli’s stock continues to fall and the excuses are becoming increasingly thin on the ground. Dropped by England, it is not unreasonable to ask when Dele Alli will eventually be dropped by Tottenham.

DUELS WON 21%

Dele’s current mean average duel win percentage was 41%, that’s some under delivery.

AERIAL DUELS WON 17%

Another shortfall. Dele’s current mean average aerial duel win percentage was 35.6%.

TOTAL SUCCESSFUL ACTIONS 43%

Ordinarily, Dele’s ‘total successful actions’ hits 58.7%. More short-change.

I agree he is not suited for counter attack type play. He makes great runs and is good for splitting defenders and getting on the end of a cross. I honestly think Kane is our best passer and distributor most of the time. Maybe play him behind Dele and let him pull the strings in midfield until LoCeleso is back then I would let him play every game and see if he is the answer or not

Fourth and finals don’t mean 💩… He will be remembered for winning nothing… Throwing games.. Poor decision making. He failed in multiple finals and a league run. He never reacted or adjusted in time, he always made subs and changes too late. He was always ‘berry happy’. If he wasn’t then why couldn’t he be honest. Always whimpers too little too late.. After 6 years and winning nothing the players had stopped playing for him. He overtrained players towards the end of every season they burned out or picked up injuries…… Comparing pochs 6 year long tenure to Joses 10 month (which was broken with injuries plus the worldwide pandemic) is rather dumb……….. Botch was gone a year ago. He failed. We all discussed in depth at the time and after… It amazes me that weeks and months have gone and you’re still whinging and crying daily, repeating yourself like a stuck record…Talk about repeating yourself, check out all your discus comments. You must have explained to me alone the same stuff twenty times. Are you a parrot? Bill Nicholson won stuff. Why don’t you crow on about him? Botch was a failure. It’s why no top team has come for him. Grown men who moan like old women constantly (like yourself) gets boring after time… You do realise that if your beloved hero had managed to win the CL then he would have STILL LEFT…. He said so himself…….. Personally I think Harry Redknapps team was better. They had tougher competition though the likes of united and woolwich and the chavs were stronger then… Leicester wouldn’t have won the league back then.. The football under Botch was clear, team press, high press. nothing else. All teams sussed him out and he never adjusted. We were void of everything in the end. No spark, no creativity, no fight…… Botch was a nice guy, great coach… But poor manager. And a soft touch..

So highest ever league placings for four consecutive seasons, our first ever European Cup final and you’re coating him off?

I’m just saying that regardless of if people like yourself like it or not, all that follow will be judged against that record.

When you consider thar the club has only won two League Cups in over 20 years, it’s not like it’s a habit for us anyway to be winning cups.

in what respect did he fail? What he achieved with the budget was remarkable. Jose has yet to hit anything near that level with us. Not saying he won’t but right now Jose is more of a loser at Spurs than Poch was.

Levy brought him in to get top four, he failed, he ‘lost’….

Still on about Poch? 😆 It’s like you’re obsessed with the loser mate… He was a one trick pony.. Great coach but his ability as a manager left much to be desired.. It was high press or die.. No plan B… And his squad was good but nearly all the players he inherited. Kane was coming through. Walker rose verts dembele tintin were already here…. He sold Siggurdson who was needed….. In the end teams had found poch out. They knew high press was coming so set up to counter. We weren’t breaking teams down. His multitude of silly decisions, throwing games and cups and telling everyone he was leaving if he won something…. It was time for him to go…. He brought alot of it on himself.

I reckon he’s been partying. Drinking lifestyle takes its toll… Or its money, fame, he’s got a gorgeous bird….. Maybe too much of everything. Can go to some peoples head… He probably doesn’t spend all his time and life with his agent and management.

Still he nearly scored.. And if anyone was going to produce a moment of magic from the middle then it would have been Dele…. Pierre and Winks were also rubbish, our midfield was schooled by Allen and Rodriguez… I think Maureen was addressing 7, 8 or 9 players…. Problem is only 3 subs allowed, and options from the bench are limited… Dele was poor, but so were the rest.

Digging out the players constantly doesn’t sit comfortably with me. Most of the players got into the top 4 for the last 4 seasons and were in a Champions League final a year ago.

The squad wasn’t freshened up properly for almost two years and the coach that oversaw all that is no longer there.

The reason why things are like they are is down to wilful neglect by Levy. “I want top four for Christmas” then stop behaving like Scrooge, you stupid c**nt… 😂

The only players we have now that are above average are Lloris, Son and Kane. The rest are bang average or sub standard. Some are top 4 Championship standard only. Even Son and Kane can be patchy, no doubt mesmerized by the mediocrity around them. Son can be world class one minute and then the next the ball keeps bouncing off him like he’s playing down the park.
That’s 3 possible top 4 players and nothing to back them up. I think the top 4 teams would only take Kane out of those 3. Each transfer Levy does in his manic bid to save pennies (because after all covid 19 affected Spurs so much more than any other team apparently), waters down the quality even more. If he continues at this rate we’ll be a mid table outfit, but with top 4 admission prices of course.
He overdid it on the stadium by a mile, no doubt showing off to the neighbours. Instead of spending so much on unnecessary trivia in his arrogant, ego centric way of showing off, he should have held some funds back for the new manager. After all no point in building a palace and then not being able to afford to furnish it.
There is no ambition, just a demented desire to save money at all costs. For example Castagne would have arguably been a better option as RB for us, he’s significantly younger and can play RB and LB so solving two problems.
As for Hojbjerg, well Southampton fans did warn us he wasn’t that good. But we’re so starved of transfers we tend to grab onto each one like it’s the last we’ll ever get!
Levy is turning us into an average team transfer by miserly transfer. I now expect Troy Deeney on loan on transfer deadline day.
Levy will always find some excuse not to spend money, he’s been doing it successfully for 20 years after all. He’s gaining quite the reputation for it, and for lying to prospective players and managers about his plans to make Spurs “the best club in Europe” his words. Steptoe and Son FC.

I have no idea but we are run by people who know nothing about football. They are merely property speculators who, unfortunately, are the current custodians of our club. I hope and pray we are delivered soon from these ghastly people.

Poch made all of them play to their maximum level. They don’t know any other way, as a result we have a team only half as good as it was…

I agree he has fallen off, however he still scored 8 goals and had 4 assists last season in 21 starts. There were important goals in there as well, equaliser against Watford, winner against Brighton, equaliser against Burnley away (penalty admittedly) and the equaliser against Everton away. Compare that with Lucas Moura who scored 4 goals with 2 assists in 25 starts. Admittedly Dele wasn’t particularly influential yesterday and there were some awful 1st touches but Moura was completely anonymous as he is all too often. I hear very little criticism of him.

It hasn’t stopped him buying a Rolls Royce Phantom for £390,000 recently. That is his problem in a nutshell. Our problem is that his value diminishes weekly. We need to sell him asap as he is a busted flush and will never turn out to be the player we thought he might. You need the desire and mental strength to go to the next level, and he will never have that.

Dele is 24 now and no longer a pup. I still don’ t know what his best position is. His touch is poor and he’s not very good in tight situations. He doesn’t have the turn of speed to beat a man. All the flick n tricks, the choreographed hand celebrations and all round snowflakery was indulged by Poch. He is a strong boy and his strengths were arriving in the box to get on the end of moves. We really miss Eriksen in that 10 position. Too often Kane, Ali & Moura were dropping deep getting in each others way and it meant we had nobody in the box. They needed to make the pitch bigger. Mourinho needs to remind us of why Levy is paying him £15m a year and find a way to get them to click.

Another thing that Poch brought before maybe breaking them at the end of each season was fitness. Every player added 15% all round fitness and excelled at sprints in matches where we were top of the charts for large chunks of seasons. He greatly helped Kane and from not having a ‘turn of pace’ suddenly had one and had it with strength to hold off players. This has gone in the squad now ,they are older , slightly broken and from what i can see from yesterday very unfit compared to most teams.

Trouble is you can only cash in if there is an interested party. I can’t see a good team spending money on him right now. Everton would have been a good shout as they love spending huge sums on average guff but even they seem to have sorted their shit out.

Even though our lack of midfield creativity was quite manifest in the first half, we did look more cohesive and dangerous in attack whilst playing Dele up top. Bringing on another midfielder (Sissoko) paradoxically did not strengthen our midfield, as Sissoko even by his own limited standards was singularly uncreative yesterday, however it observably weakened our attack by further isolating Harry Kane.

This was a tactical error by Mourinho which, whilst blaming all his players for the defeat, he failed to take any responsibility for. Similarly, he eschewed the opportunity to take responsibility for the team’s apparent unpreparedness to play a game of football, which is his principal brief as a coach. ‘Parking the bus’, whilst simultaneously throwing his players under it, is a toxic recipe for both fan and player unrest.

Ali gets the stick which is fair enough but what is his actual position? In that 11 yesterday deles role isnt clear. He cuts a frustrated figure, he seems to want to press and then flaps his arms when Son or Kane arent covering or pressing with him.

Its like we played 4-2-4 formation yesterday. Moura was shocking, and id have hooked him not dele. But then if i had sausages id have sausage and eggs for tea, if I had eggs.

For me there are 6-7players we could try and shift to raise around 200 million however unless we can bring in better and some homegrown rated we are never going anywhere.
Alli – 60
Indomble 50
Sissoko 15
Winks 30
Lamela 15
Rose 5
Aurier 15.
There might be another one however sell them add Brooks, grealish, ings a good centre half and some one from the French league to replace Sissoko and winks got to be better than that rubbish on Sunday.

Alli changed the minute he changed his management team, who no doubt filled his head with all kinds of kak. But he hasn’t got back to that level from the earlier years and neither poch or Jose seems to be able to get to him. Strange nobody has seen it tho and realised we need to cash in because at this rate we won’t get the 5m back and daniel won’t like that

He was doing Kane’s chasing down of the ball – it was a strange tactical performance all round but my impression was that Alli was started high up almost as a second striker to help a knackered Kane do the leg work/donkey work. I’d like to see the stats on which players were doing the most thankless chasing down of defenders in search of the ball because I think Kane did a lot less than usual. It was my impression anyway.

At least Son/Kane/Alli linked up and showed some understanding first half – it was poor by Alli’s standards but changing to the 3 midfield axis of boredom (Winks/Sissoko/Højbjerg) at the start of the second half was a lot more terrifying.

On paper it would read wretched, in reality it was so much worse.

This squad of players were very good under Poch when they were a couple of years younger. Playing to a specific system and an approach that got the best out of them.

Two problems here; firstly, without Poch’s methods they’re able to give on average about 25% less because none of them had carved out a career under any other management before being part of that team. They play best in a specific way as a result, that way is most definitely not Jose’s way.

The second problem is, we have a manager now that had always used a certain profile of player, roughly half of these players don’t fit that profile. This isn’t Poch’s fault or Jose’s fault, the problems are down to Levy not thinking things through and not caring about these things.

He thought Jose would get top 4, that’s what he wanted as he said in the TV show. It didn’t work out so what we’re left with is a manger that doesn’t suit the players and vice versa.

Also the previous manger had them collectively playing well above their potential as individuals.

This situation is actually quite seriously dysfunctional and the only remedy for Jose is money, money he will not get…

It’s all very well Dele throwing a strop because the game was taken away from us E7 of the soap, but his performances are a major reason why we’re losing games.
I have no way of knowing what’s going on in his head, but Mourinho has got to sort him out, because he is way below the level he has shown in the past. and he needs to get that back.

If he can’t he needs to go.There’s no place for his off field distractions.
Or it could be that Mourinho just can’t motivate any of the players. The excuses are already flowing freely and we know where this leads to.
