Spurs Turn To Serie A Belgian Timothy Castagne As Thomas Meunier Alternative

By The Boy -

It looks as if Spurs are making a determined effort to rid themselves of a characteristic not usually associated with a Jose Mourinho side, leaking goals. Italian outlet Tuttomercato says that an alternative to Thomas Meunier of PSG has emerged, in Timothy Castagne.

Tim ticks boxes for Daniel Levy. The Belgian defender is out of contract in 2021 and as a result, ought to be affordable, plus the 24-year-old will already have a working relationship with Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.

Castagne is currently with Serie A outfit Atlanta and featured throughout their Champions League campaign which to them to the knockout stages.

Spurs, like everyone else, are presented with a more complex window than usual. It’s therefore vital that Daniel Levy doesn’t use the opportunity to curl up in a ball and declare it all too complicated. The game is returning and Tottenham is in no position to limp from one ‘Chairman’s message’ to another, Jose Mourinho needs… oh forget it.

My point was much deeper than one transfer window, but you are right. VVD was in the final, but Klopp built that team over 4 or so years, whilst ours has stayed pretty much the same.

He can’t catch a break because he has no foresight. If he’d been in charge of Liverpool after they lost to Real Madrid do you think he would have invested in VVD and Alisson? Not a chance. He’d have said “Well, we got to a final, we must be ok.” Henry listened to what Klopp wanted, and they win a Ch Lg and a league title. No way did Levy listen to Poch. Spurs were doomed when Levy spent £30m on Sissoko and he is one of our go to players now. Unbelievable Jeff!

It’s unfortunate that just as Tottenham seemed to be be turning to signing out of contract players due to the reduced budget that followed from not qualifying for the Champions League along comes the virus to decimate the the income of all clubs. Now the value of out of contract players has just shot up and their bargaining power has increased too as Levy will find out to his cost if he tries to low ball Jan Vertonghen the way he did to Fernando Llorente. He can’t catch a break at the moment Daniel.
