Timothy Castagne reportedly has no intention of extending his stay at Atalanta beyond 2021, when, like Hojbjerg, his current contract expires.
This would leave the Serie A outfit with little choice but to sell the Belgian in the next transfer window, with clubs across Europe in no position to play hardball because of the economic impact of the global pandemic.
If our interest in both players is genuine, this puts us in a good position to potentially resolve the two biggest problem areas in our squad, without likely overstepping our own COVID-19-imposed spending restrictions.
Hojbjerg is valued by transfermarkt.com at £10.8m, and Castagne at £16m.
There wouldn’t be any excuses for Daniel Levy not to get these deals done.
