Spurs star among transfer targets for new Newcastle owners

By Mark Brus -

Newcastle United could reportedly be ready to splash some of their new cash on a slightly surprising transfer swoop for Tottenham attacking midfielder Dele Alli.

A few years ago this might’ve made sense, but Dele has been poor for a while now and is no longer playing regularly for Spurs, so it’s hard to understand why Newcastle might view him as the kind of marquee signing to help usher in a new era at St James’ Park.

Still, the England international is being linked with the Magpies by Sport, who also mentioned that former Spurs man Gareth Bale is also on their radar.

Perhaps Alli would be able to revive his career at Newcastle, where he might well get more playing time and some extra motivation from a change of scene after six years in north London.

The 25-year-old undoubtedly has talent, and it’s a shame that it increasingly seems like there’s no way back for him at Tottenham, so perhaps a move to Newcastle would make sense for all parties involved.

Wild speculation however the Gallowgate faithful won’t have it. They would rather have Micky Quinn back.

The Richest Club in the World want a Geriatric and a Finger Magician. That makes a lot of sense.
