Spurs set date to start Pochettino return talks with PSG

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham plans to start talks over the return of Mauricio Pochettino with PSG on Monday.

The Lilywhites need a new manager after firing Jose Mourinho last month.

The Portuguese boss has since moved on and is now the latest manager of AS Roma.

But Spurs are still struggling to get any of their targets to replace him on the bench.

After failing in their pursuit of top targets like Brendan Rodgers and Julian Nagelsmann, they have now turned their attention to their former boss.

Poch has been the manager of PSG for the last six months and has won two trophies even though he lost the league title to Lille.

The Sun says Spurs are serious about his return to their managerial seat and they are set to begin talks over his return.

They have reportedly set Monday as the day they will open talks with PSG over signing him.

The report says if he agrees to return, he would ask Harry Kane to give the club one more season.

The England captain has asked to leave this summer, but it could excite him to stay and play under Poch for another campaign.

It remains unclear if Spurs will persuade PSG to allow them to have Pochettino or if they will ask him to resign and move back to London.

Presumably Leonardo is signing him, I believe he handles transfers there doesn’t he? And while I don’t believe there’s much to these rumours, Hakimi can probably be confident he’ll play regardless of the new manager, pick a nice big signing on fee and bigger wages.

Kane, Son and Pierre were higher rated on stats.. Aurier comes in 4th.. He’s a key player, like it or not… I would like a new manager installed before players are bought or sold because Levy and Hitchen don’t have the minerals to do the rebuild.

This is a myth that a minority of fans peddle.. Errors leading to goals for the 21 season was Sanchez, Lloris, Rodon, and Reguilion… No Aurier. Power Serge also picked up zero yellow and red cards.. Only Pierre made more tackles than Aurier.

Sort of kills the poch to spurs rumours. Who is signing him and why would he sign if they are loosing their manager.

Actually, he does have some skills but there’s always, seemingly, an accident waiting to happen with him.

Yes, I find it deeply troubling if the error prone Aurier was our fourth best player!

Aurier’s so accident prone, I’m surprised no one’s yet given him the nickname that the ex Celtic and Birmingham centre back, Olivier Tebily, earned of “bombscare”

Aurier to PSG always sounded like BS to me. Being reported that PSG are signing Achraf Hakimi a right back from Inter Milan for €60 million.

On the face of it, it sounds a pretty good swap if we get Poch and they get Aurier; in fact if we got bugs bunny for Aurier, it probably wouldn’t be a bad swap!

Quite, James. Poch would return to find the same very average squad of washed up players, but with HK, and probably Son, closer to the exit door and limited funds to do a squad overhaul. Why would he take the job if it was offered him? He’d have to be deranged, surely?

Do you really think if this were true one of the best strikers is going to waste another year of his life just to help levy and enic. God help us. You actually believe this rubbish. I remember poch last 18 months and other than the cl final were he made a major fubar by playing Harry the football was awful. We were 14th when he left and were in better shape then than now. This is will the biggest mistake of enic and poch ever.

Pochs timing at Spurs was good, City, United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea were all off the boil for various reasons during his tenure.

Well normal service has resumed and that door has slammed shut. So Poch the mansion is still there and there is still no furniture in it.

Apparently Poch wanted to get rid of Dier and Aldeweireld after the Champions League final. … they’re still around,

It’s probably going to happen. It will be some sort of a swap deal. Aurier will go to PSG, and Poch will go back to North London. If Levy wanted to appoint another manager, he’d already done it by now.

I just hope that Poch gets more of a say in transfer decisions. There’s so much deadwood and the rebuild has been overdue since the champions league final. Bring Max Aarons, Ben White, Fabian Ruiz, Bale,Buendia and an experienced striker in and get rid of Aurier, Dier, Alderweireld, Winks, Alli, Lamela. It will take a while to rebuild but the first seasons under Poch were a pleasure to watch. Let’s just hope for the best.

What! I thought this story was a non-starter? Is it on? Or is ‘The Sun’ not equipped with as reputable stories as French Newspapers?
