Spurs remain keen on transfer swoop for Chelsea contract rebel

By Mark Brus -

Tottenham are reportedly still among the clubs interested in a transfer swoop for Antonio Rudiger as he struggles to agree a new contract with Chelsea.

The Germany international has been one of the Blues’ most improved players in recent months, having become a key player under Thomas Tuchel after a difficult spell under his predecessor Frank Lampard.

According to the Daily Express, Spurs are now hovering as Chelsea struggle to agree a new deal at Stamford Bridge, with Tuchel supposedly urging the board to sort something out.

The report adds that big names like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain could rival Tottenham for Rudiger, so this won’t be an easy signing to get done by any means.

When Rudiger wasn’t playing regularly for Chelsea and his stock was a bit lower, Spurs might well have been able to lure him over with the promise of more first-team football, but Nuno Espirito Santo would have hard work on his hands now to get this team to the kind of level that might attract someone of Rudiger’s calibre.

The 28-year-old has just won the Champions League so will probably want to keep playing at that level, with there being every chance he’d be a regular starter for the likes of Real, Bayern or PSG.

This is just more nonsense. He plays nearly every game for Chelsea now. Why would he come to Spurs?
Chelsea do not do business with Spurs. So basically what you are saying is, this player will run down his current contract at Chelsea (where he is winning things) to sign for a team that doesn’t win things..
