Spurs ready to sell midfielder in January transfer window but Man Utd interest has cooled

By Mark Brus -

Tottenham are reportedly ready to let midfielder Harry Winks go in the January transfer window.

According to CaughtOffside, Winks is keen for more playing time and it seems that Spurs’ hierarchy would also be prepared to allow him a move away, though it remains to be seen where he might end up.

The report notes that Manchester United had previously shown an interest but that has now cooled, even if the club would not entirely rule out a move for Winks in the future.

Winks looked a promising young player when he first broke into the senior side at Tottenham, but he’s perhaps not progressed quite as much as many would’ve hoped, and he now finds himself out of favour under Nuno Espirito Santo.

The 25-year-old could surely feature more regularly for most other clubs in the Premier League, though it does seem a bit surprising that there’s still any interest from Man Utd, who have plenty of other options in the middle of the park as it is.

As good as Winks could be if he played more often and got a bit of confidence back, he doesn’t seem likely to be much of an upgrade on players like Fred and Scott McTominay.

I honestly genuinely think he feels that he is an under appreciated genius and that he will eventually be seen as some kind of godfather (despite him and his mates trousering all the profits). The reality is that he is an insufferable little micromanaging pr*ck…

Statues of English footballers from the 1960’s might shatter the illusion that you’re supposed to be in Philadelphia, or Miami…

Levy wants a statue of Levy. He’s a narcissist so expect one before he leaves or dies.

I believe that shortly after Greaves passed, the club came out with an official statement to say that they had no intention of erecting a statue to him or any of our players.Doesn’t that make you feel all warm inside?

If only Levy had a sense of shame but this has and will always elude him. He is merely the temporary guardian of of a much loved institution which he continues to treat with irreverence and contempt whilst he continues to amass a fortune for himself and the President of Patagonia. Shame on him and Enic.

On a slightly different note, I have just seen that West Ham have unveiled a statue of Hurst, Moore and Peters outside their ground, so even the Dildo Bros have shown some class. Can anybody imagine that Levy might put up a statue of Jimmy Greaves in front of our craft ale emporium? I think we all know the answer to that. Levy is the gift that just keeps giving.

Levy has a netbook value for players like Winks, Ali and Dier based on a few years ago and cant accept that they are rubbish now and have depreciated significantly. You may have got £40m for Winks 3 years ago but not a hope now. In the case of Ali, Levy thought he had a £100m player on his hands and probably finds it hard to accept he’s not worth much more than the £5m we spent in him.

I’m not sure he’ll be sold anytime soon with Levy’s demands that players are kept and played. Plus there’s a homegrown quota in the European competitions, this is a factor, especially with Hart leaving.

What a joke. For 40m I would give them Winks, Dele and NBelly. Petrol to drive them there included.

I do not believe and have never believed this story. Furthermore, Levy, in his ineffable wisdom, valued Winks at £40 mill which is the reason nobody came in for him. Further evidence of our supreme leader’s brilliance in the transfer market.

perhaps he has not progressed?!?! Truth is he has always been average. I doubt MUFC ever took him seriously.
