Spurs now know what it will cost them if they try to join another breakaway competition

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham will have 30 points deducted from their tally in the Premier League if they ever join a breakaway league like the European Super League, Sun Sports reports.

The Lilywhites are one of the teams that wanted to break away from UEFA to form the new club competition.

It was foiled after fans protested their teams’ participation and it drew strong criticism from around the world.

The Premier League has now fined the six rebelling teams £3.5m each and they have agreed to the points deduction penalties for any future attempts.

This is a punishment they forced the Premier League to hand out to them to draw a line and secure their allegiance to UEFA in the future.

The report says the other 14 teams who didn’t take part in the scheme might not be happy with the punishment.

Some of them had been pushing for immediate points deductions, but Premier league chief, Richard Masters, recognises that the top six are the key clubs in the competition and he feels the above punishment is enough.

Spurs’ decision to join that botched effort has backfired with more fans turning against their leadership.

It came at a time when their team was struggling on the pitch and Jose Mourinho was sacked.

They will hope to move on from this and deliver some memorable moments to their fans next season.

Sad but true. Paratici may be tempted by the opportunity of spending some of the Kane, probably Son, and any deadwood sales money but there is absolutely no way we can improve and be competitive in the PL without our only world class players and Fonseca as manager. We’re in for a long journey to shi**y mediocrity. We’re heading back to the 90s.

Just when you think Levy cannot sink any lower he still manages to surprise you. The fiasco with Conte to boost season ticket sales is shown in its full glory when immediately after the deadline Conte is suddenly a dead deal and out of nowhere enters the sacked manager of Roma who have just taken in the manager sacked by Levy. What does all this say about the ambition and status of this club? What does it tell the players at the club and those who may be approached to join. This is another patsy appointment by Levy hiding behind the DOF. This will be another new project with jam tomorrow promised. Kane is long gone now and I cannot see Son staying to be honest. Bale will return to Real Madrid. So in one season Levy destroys what was anticipated to be one of the most formidable forward lineups in the world of Son, Kane and Bale. A remarkable achievement that must warrant another bonus I would suggest.

Brilliant. Would be even funnier if the on-screen Fonz hadn’t the same chance of being successful under Levy.

That was Levy’s tactics for the whole time after 18 months when Spurs will be struggling he comes out and blames Paratici and will sack him. and after another season fire the manager Paratici hired. so Levy is under the radar next 2 seasons he got his scapegoats next 2 seasons you couldn’t make it up the guy has Spurs club and their fans in the pocket he can switch on and off at will.

Roma beat Ajax in europa quarter final and i think he may have won more trophies than Ten Hag.
Plus Fonseca dressed up as Zorro in post match presser. What more could you want. …..maybe he’ll carve a “Z” in Levy’s forehead.

Roma suffered a lot of injuries. Zaniolo missed the whole season i think. Kumbulla, a very promising centre back, missed a lot of games as did Chris Smalling. Their key defensive midfielder, Diawara, also missed a lot of game time.

Roma created the most decent goal scoring chances in European leagues last season. Unfortunately they had a worse defence than Spurs and conceded 58. They also suffered with a lot of injuries and have missed arguably their best player. Not the appointment anyone was expecting but I think he is someone that could work within the current set-up.

This can’t be true. I know a fair few Roma fans and they say he was shocking. Their team was as poor as we were this season. This is just a pointless appointment if true. Levy is such a k-nob if this happens.

Nobody wants to work for Daniel, In fact bringing in a DOF, at least means they don’t have to deal with the c*nt on a daily basis.

Perhaps Levy’s reputation is so bad now that he had to bring in a DOF to persuade at least someone to take the job?! 🤔

Roma conceded 58 goals this season. Nice.
The only thing that could maybe be a chink of light is if there’s a chance to get Nicolo Zaniolo to follow him over….

That’s a long shot though….

Fonseca replaced Claudio Ranieri at Roma after three years with Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine. The Portuguese also coached Porto and Braga in his homeland. He won three successive doubles in charge of Shakhtar between 2016 and 2019, as well as a Portuguese Cup with Braga in 2016 and a Portuguese Super Cup with Porto in 2013.

Ok, so the latest is that Spurs are going for Paulo Fonseca, yes the man Jose is replacing at Roma! This is just complete bullsh*t, management ‘merry go round’ doesn’t even cover it. Another Levy another up with two yes men, one DOF and a manager to continue with the whole sham.

Yes, judging by the modus operandi, whoever it is will have no Kane, little money and a bunch of lay abouts who don’t care, it at least needs somebody who can communicate ideas quickly and clearly. Without a translator preferably.

Locally. Europa games are the only games some parents can afford to take their kids to. Europa games bring a few more quid into the local economy. People like me who do charitable work in my COMMUNITY drugs&alcohol, mental health (bubic Haga) we get chucked a few tickets. I live on the broad water farm estate. We have a wicked little academy here, broad water farm FC (big up clasford sterling MBE) tickets come our way also. I can totally understand why people who don’t live here think Europa lesser games are pointless. I don’t see it that way though. Hope you’re well man

A 30 point deduction is a pretty meaningless punishment when doled out to clubs whose domestic league place essentially means nothing, and who qualify for their new competition regardless. And 3.5M each is a joke.
Owners made to pay 20M each from their own non-club coffers would put a stop to the smoke-filled back-room plotting pretty sharpish I’d bet.

Yes, I find the Europa fairly pointless, but the Conference is a whole new ball game. 30 deducted points for future misdemeanours seems right; however, I think at some stage the top clubs will probably just leave the Premiership altogether and go play in a new ESL.

Jay
Jay

30 deducted points isn’t the worst thing that could of happened this season. Let me explain. We ended up in that crummy Euro Competition that will see have to play more games than anyone else next season, traipsing all the way around the depths of Europe to play pointless games, so that when January comes around again no matter WHO we have in place as Manager will not be able to refresh the players enough to fight for a decent Euro place for the following season. Better we lose the 30 points and finish just above relegation so in the following season we can fight for things

MikeJ
MikeJ

I reckon that old lady with the bottles of water would have understood the dangers of trying to form the ESL, more than Levy did.
