Tottenham’s Matt Doherty has tested positive for coronavirus, according to the Football Association of Ireland. via Football. London.
The Tottenham defender has been away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland national team and he played the whole 90 minutes as his country lost 1-0 to Wales in the Nations League yesterday.
Ahead of their next match against Bulgaria this week, the country’s FA has revealed that the defender has caught covid-19.
He isn’t the only member of the team to have gotten the virus with Stoke City’s James McClean also returning a positive test.
Both players have now self-isolated while the rest of the team members, who had all tested negative, have continued with their preparation for their next game.
Club football returns this weekend with Tottenham facing Manchester City at the Etihad.
That will be a game to test Tottenham’s title credentials and the Lilywhites will not want to drop points.
Jose Mourinho can mastermind a win for Tottenham against Pep Guardiola’s side, however, the Special One will need all the top players that he can get to execute that game.
Doherty is now likely to miss the match against the Citizens, and he will hope to get back in time for Spurs Europa League game against Ludogorets Razgrad.
It’s a bad flu and deadly to the smaller vulnerable section of society. It’s been handled terribly by the NHS. I applaud most of the people working in it, but as an organisation I wouldn’t clap for it if you paid me.
We think the sun shines out of its a*se yet every country has a health service, many far better than the NHS yet do we learn from them? Nope, because the NHS has become almost saintly, even when it fails. It needs sorting out, how it’s funded, everything…
It is in the governments’ interest to conflate all deaths as COVID to maintsain the fear amongst the general population and make it appear as if this thing is a threat to the whole survival of humanity.
However more and more people are waking up to the absurdity of the government arguments.
The threat of mandatory vaccinations is extremely worrying as is the effort to shut down any opposition to the idea.
There is indeed something not quite right about this whole situation.And anyone who gets into bed with that evil specimen Bill Gates is certainly not to be trusted.
This illness is so complicated, if young fit and supposedly healthy sportsmen are getting it, what chance have the rest of us got. I am convinced however that the measures taken to avoid further contamination by governments around the world, not only the UK, have been disastrous.
IF ever we get to the truth of what the hell this has all been about, then any faith and respect left, in those high ranking people making such decisions will end.
I am having the same debate with other groups ,do you really think they would or could enforce the above? If there are ever riots on the streets it will be in the next few years.
The way the deaths have been recorded means it will be difficult to go back over these and pick through what was Covid and what wasn’t. Which is exactly what someone somewhere wants, for some reason.
The different strains of flu kills more people annually, every single year. Not because it’s as dangerous but because it’s more widespread.
If we come out of this with a death toll lower than that of seasonal flu it’s going to look very bad. All those people who may well now die because of canceled treatments and operations over the three month lockdown are going to want answers. I saw a hospital documentary last night and a surgeon said he’d seen three patients on one morning that because of the delays, their prognosis was far worse.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg, Public Health England, the NHS and the government have basically shortened the lives of possibly hundreds of thousands because of their lockdown policies. We are talking about a population of about 60m getting no treatment for three months or more. Do the maths. Terrible.
You’re right on both counts in the last paragraph,although there is anecdotal evidence that NHS staff are being silenced by job losses if they reveal the true situation.
The real problems will occur when people refuse,for whatever reason,to be vaccinated.Without the certificate of proof negative people will be refused return to work,travel,going to any social event,bars and restaurants and even loss of a job.
I can’t speak for the US. It certainly hasn’t been handled as well as it could have there in terms of what the authorities have done. Don’t get me wrong, Covid 19 is obviously a very serious thing and a killer, especially to the most vulnerable.
I’m not playing down the seriousness of it or the tragedy of any death from it. I just think the public in the UK should be getting the actual figures correctly and specifically attributed to Covid.
When they say on the news “the UK death toll is now over 50k” when it actually isn’t is doing a disservice to those that have actually died of it. Secondly the public are being mislead, which I find completely unacceptable in what is supposed be a democracy with transparency about public health issues.

I saw a tweet yesterday from someone flicking through the Obituaries in a Michigan paper and it was 10 1/2 pages long. So i think there must be something more than Multi Nationals and Big Pharma at play here.
When the truth come out about the debacle around the way Covid 19 has been dealt with, there will be some shocks. The amount of people that have already had this thing and not even realised without testing is unknown.
They’re still recording deaths as a death within three months of a positive Covid test. Why is that a Covid 19 death? Can someone explain?
1.5m people die in the UK every year anyway and those who are ill will have been in hospital and tested for it. So if they eventually sadly pass away from something totally unrelated it gets put down as a Covid 19 death.
It’s f*cking scandalous and I’ve been saying it since the start. Why are they tying to make the death toll from it look worse than it actually is? I will hazard a guess and say that the actual death toll directly as a result of Covid 19 isn’t much higher than about 25,000 in the UK.
I’m not into conspiracy theories but something else is going on here… project fear has made Amazon far richer than it was before, and the supermarkets, and the streaming services etc.
