Spurs make Premier League defender a top transfer target

By Bruce Grove -

The Daily Express claims Spurs are targeting Southampton defender, Jannik Vestergaard ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Danish defender has been one of the best in his position in the Premier League this season.

His absence in the Saints’ team has coincided with their drop in form and they have struggled in recent games.

Tottenham wanted to sign Milan Skriniar in the last transfer window but had to settle for Joe Rodon after they couldn’t reach an agreement over the Slovakian with Inter Milan.

Rodon is not yet to the level that Tottenham require and their draw and the manner of it against Newcastle recently has forced the club to fast-track a move for a new centre back.

Spurs will look to bolster their defence again when the transfer window reopens and the report says Vestergaard will likely join.

Jose Mourinho still wants to sign Skriniar, but a move for the Slovakian remains tough and it would become even harder now that he has regained his place in Antonio Conte’s team.

If they cannot get their man, the closest alternative they have is the Southampton defender.

With enough Premier League experience, Spurs will expect Vestergaard to adapt to the Lilywhites’ style of play almost immediately.

Why is Mr Levy finds difficult to get the player that the manager wants? Even if he cannot get him why he is not asking the manager the alternatives, instead of bringing the club a player that nobody wanted or asked him, ok for the sake of argument if the manager accepts any player that Mr Levy brings then if that player fails it is nothing to do with the manager cause he did not asked him in the 1st place then Mr Levy has to be man enough and take the responsibility of that failure, he can’t have both ways by blaming the managers and sacking them at will and not involving them the decision of getting the player in the 1st place. Jose has asked 1 year ago to have Milan Skriniar the guy is £25 million right now instead of getting him Mr Levy he went and bought Rodon Around £11million and now he wants to bring Vestergaard around £18million so he spent around £30 million 2 players that nobody wanted or asked him, how long Mr Levy will run this never ending circus for the club? it is already +20 years and counting.
