“Spurs look toothless in attack and extremely suspect at the back” Tottenham predicted to struggle against Chelsea

By Bruce Grove -

Standard Sports has predicted that Tottenham will lose yet another Premier League game when they face Chelsea next in the competition.

Spurs have lost Harry Kane to injury and his absence has coincided with them losing their last two league games.

He will miss Thursday’s game against the Blues also, and Spurs hardly performs well when he isn’t playing.

Chelsea has just hired Thomas Tuchel as their newest manager after sacking Frank Lampard.

The German has managed them in two games, lost none, and won the last one against Burnley.

He has been tipped to help them beat Jose Mourinho’s struggling team by a narrow score.

The report says with Tottenham players suffering from low self-esteem and Gareth Bale in poor form, Mourinho has to find answers against the Blues, but he looks more likely to lead Tottenham to three consecutive league losses for the first time in 8 years.

They write: “Tottenham’s players are suffering from low self-esteem after back-to-back defeats as they prepare to face a re-energised Chelsea under new manager Thomas Tuchel.

“With no Harry Kane to call on and with Gareth Bale still looking short of the required level, Jose Mourinho must find answers against his former club to avoid a third consecutive league loss – a run Spurs have not seen in more than eight years.

“In a game which could have a huge impact on the top-four race come the end of the season, Thomas Tuchel will immediately adhere himself to fans just a week after his appointment with a big London derby win.”

After predicting a 1-0 Tottenham defeat, the report adds:

“Spurs look toothless in attack and extremely suspect at the back, against a team still finding their feet under Thomas Tuchel. Another win over Spurs for Chelsea, then.”

Depressingly, I am hard pressed to disagree with that assessment based on current form. The Brighton performance was abject and if Mourinho is unable to somehow motivate this team out of its current malaise, the future prospects are not looking bright. Indeed it might even foretell the beginning of the end for Jose, which seemed highly unlikely a dozen games into a most promising start to the season and a top of the table berth.
