Spurs Linked With Prolific Bundesliga Striker, But So Are Juventus

By Ron Carne -

Tottenham are reportedly plotting a move for Borussia Dortmund starlet Erling Haaland following his stunning breakthrough this season.

The 19-year-old has bagged 40 goals and nine assists in just 33 appearances across spells with RB Salzburg and Dortmund this campaign, as he has shown little sign of his prolific form slowing down.

Spurs were dealt several injury blows prior to the season being suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak, with Harry Kane, Heung Min-Son and Steven Bergwijn all picking up injuries.

That left Jose Mourinho short of options in attack, and so the Tottenham boss could be in the market for another striker this summer to bolster his squad.

As reported by the Express, via Tuttomercatoweb, Spurs have now been paired with an interest in Haaland, although they’ll likely face significant competition given the likes of Juventus and Manchester United are specifically mentioned as interested parties too.

As noted by BBC Sport, Mourinho has previously spoken of his desire to have a more balanced squad next season, and that will perhaps include adding more quality depth upfront to give him adequate cover and competition for Kane to help his side compete on multiple fronts.

Can’t pull the wool over Spurs diehards, when I see the words, “Spurs are linked with player X, Y, Z, I have a little laugh. Man Utd were looking at Haaland but the deal was so convoluted with agents fees, image rights and sell on clauses and, how can I put this without the libel lawyers taking an interest, interesting payments to people very close to him, United decided to walk away in the opposite direction as quickly as possible.

More wishful thinking from journalists in a period of no news.No CL no attraction.
If football is banned well into the second half of this year there will be no multiple fronts as cup competitions will likely be cancelled just to fit in 38 league matches and the delayed European final matches. My guess is the 2020-21 season will be realistically severely restricted because of time constraints.

Why would he want to come to Spurs? Why would any player with ambitions of winning silverware want to come to Spurs?
