Spurs league matches might be suspended for two weeks

By Bruce Grove -

The Premier League might undergo a temporary shut down as the coronavirus pandemic continues to ravage England.

A new strain of the virus has seen some matches postponed recently and there is a genuine fear that things might get out of hand.

After seeing Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker test positive for the novel coronavirus, Manchester City asked for their game against Everton to be postponed.

There is also the risk that their next match against Chelsea will be called off.

After the last round of testing, the Premier League reported that 18 players and staff tested positive for covid-19.

Sheffield United, Southampton and Fulham are other teams who have had the covid scare recently and Sun Sports claims that the whole competition might have to be suspended for a short time soon.

Teams who have suffered from covid outbreaks like City and Newcastle have had their games suspended, but if the pandemic continues to eat into games, the Premier League will have to put a stop to the competition entirely for around two weeks.

Tottenham has been fortunate not to suffer from an outbreak of the virus, but even their game against Fulham this evening might be called off, as it seems there might be a number of positive cases from the Cottagers.
