“Spurs have a decision to make in January” Former Tottenham man worried about big problem

By Bruce Grove -

Louis Saha has urged Jose Mourinho to give more chances to Carlos Vinicius because Tottenham needs to find goals from other parts of the team.

Spurs have made a fine start to the season before their current run of poor form in front of goal.

They were top of the Premier League table before the festive period, however, their best results have come because of the goals of Son Heung-min and Harry Kane.

The duo have formed one of the most lethal attacking partnerships in Europe at the moment.

But no great team relies on just a few players if they are serious about winning trophies, and Saha says that Spurs have to get other players to score goals for them.

He even recalled when he played for Manchester United and said that one of the reasons why they were so successful was because they had four strikers who could all score the goals.

“It is a worry that aside from Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, only Tanguy Ndombele has scored more than one league goal this season,” Saha said as quoted by Football London. “Spurs have a decision to make in January.

“They need to look at players who can help get them more goals – even if that means signing another striker.

“I don’t think that they have used Carlos Vinicius enough this season, even in a competition like the League Cup.

“It’s something that needs to be addressed because if Kane and Son aren’t scoring, you don’t know where your goals are going to come from.

“I think they need to give Vinicius more of a chance during the rest of the season. The answer isn’t necessarily to bring in another striker because they brought him in last summer.

“Yes, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son have been exceptional this season so it’s hard to get another striker into the team, but you have to find a way of maintaining the form and confidence of players that aren’t playing. I’m not going to teach Jose Mourinho how to do that because he’s a master.

“But the reason we were so successful at Man United was because we had four strikers who could all score goals and it took the pressure off all of us.

“It’s not easy to achieve because when you’re in form it’s hard to change a winning team, but Tottenham have dropped points in their last four matches so maybe this is the time to give someone like Vinicius a chance.

“We saw last year Harry Kane had a serious injury that kept him out and we saw a difference in Tottenham – so you have to address the problem you may find yourself in if someone as important and influential as him gets injured again.”

He did not make the bench and that is worrying. For some reason all other clubs that sign foriegn players get a beat out of them, not all positive, but Spurs seem to have a litmus test on what being ready looks like. This game was calling out for Vinicus with Tanguy in a dancing mood looking to slip the ball behind the defense and Vinicus seems to know how to roll of defenders.

Simply warming the bench and make cameo appearances when are Messrs Clarke, Cirken, White and Scarlett being given a run out? If Arteta is bold enough to select the likes of Smith-Rowe and Martinelli so should Jose freshen things up now!

Agreed and he ought to have made an appearance at some stage in the second half against Wolves.

I fully agree..we have been crying out for a back up Striker then when we get one we treat him like this…I wouldnt mind if he was shit but he’s looked decent when given a chance.
