Spurs are willing to offer Serie A star a £5.6m per year contract – player is ‘attracted’ by the proposal

According to CalcioStyle, Tottenham are interested in signing AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Lloris’ current contract with Tottenham expires in the summer of 2024, and recent reports suggest that Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici have ‘drawn up a long-term succession plan‘ for the Frenchman.

Spurs have been linked with a number of goalkeepers including the likes of Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak, Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Leeds’ Illan Meslier.

Another name that has now been linked with the North London club is AC Milan keeper Mike Maignan. According to CalcioStyle, ‘ the sirens from the Premier League are more and more insistent’ and even though the club is happy to keep hold of the keeper, the player might be tempted away with a salary increase.

The report states that the 27-year-old is earning ‘€2.8m (£2.4m) per year’ at Milan but Spurs are willing to offer him ‘€6.5m (£5.6m) per year’. It also mentions that Manchester United are willing to offer him similar wage who are also lining up a long-term replacement for David De Gea.

The prospect of playing in the Premier League has ‘attracted’ the Frenchman, and the significant increase in wages offered by the ‘insistent’ clubs could entice him away from Milan despite only signing for them in 2021.

Hugo Lloris has received harsh criticism for his recent performances, most recently against Newcastle, where he was responsible for both goals that led to Tottenham’s second consecutive defeat. Garth Crooks slammed him, claiming that as long as he is in goal, Spurs will not win anything.

The goalkeeper’s poor form may necessitate the club finding a replacement as soon as possible. Meslier is perhaps the most likely and sensible option because he has not only proven himself in the league, but he also has the age advantage to be a long-term replacement.
